  • About These PJS Report Cards

This is something that really bothers me, Dave Reynolds grading the team. Where does he get his expertise, has he ever played or coached basketball on an organized level. This is like a high school dropout grading a college biology exam.

Come on Dave who are you crappin?

In Dave's defense, he actually has a whole lot more experience and expertise than most of the people who criticize Bradley and their play on the message boards.

I've never seen anybody actually "grade" the team before, just criticize.

He is a beat writer that is his job. If you don??™t like his opinion or don??™t think he is qualified to give one then don??™t read the paper. I think he is right on most of the time and notice his record in predicting the outcome of games, its pretty good but he is not a bookie as far as I know.

Should message boards never criticize? It is a completely flawed argument that you need to have some sort of experience to criticize or you need to be able to ???do a better job??? then the person you are criticizing. I cant produce or direct movies but I know that Howard the Duck was really bad, I cant pitch a baseball 95 mph but I think we all agree Kyle Farnsworth is a bad major league pitcher, I can go on with a million examples.
        Can we start winning soon?

You see this type of grading system in every local paper about their teams. If you do not like it you do not have to read it.

This is America you have the right to free press like it or not. You also have the right to skip their article.

              I didn't say criticize , I said grade.

              How can he determine a b for a b-?

It's not whether you can or can't it's credibility.

Maybe instead of grades he could just go to a pass / fail system.

Dave has been Bradley's "beat writer" since 1989? Brian Oberle was the beat writer in 87-88 I believe before Davd took over.

I don't think there were any lapses in service, so around 600+ games viewed and reported on give him quite a bit of experience and make him very qualified to have an "educated" opinion..

I think DR has more experience than most of the people who criticize or praise the play of the Braves on this message boards!!!!!!!!!

I agree, but even if he didn't he is entitled to his opinion, and someone would be doing what he's doing even if DR wasn't, so I am actually pretty happy we have Dave Reynolds. A lot of teams don't have anyone with near Dave's insight and expertise.

What an amazing turn of events! Amazing what winning can do!

Seriously though, now we're complaining about Dave Reynolds? He covers the team and is as knowledgeable about what's going on with the team on the court as any observer in the stands. He does an outstanding job 'calling it like it is', good or bad. This is just silly.

I found out that Dave played for Texas Tech back in 1983 and 1984. --

                            Hey--
                            here's pretty generous treatment.........
ISU gets beat at UNI by a team they should have bested, and their guys at
the Pantagraph give both the frontcourt and the backcourt B's..

(ps...the backcourt (Odzic 2 pts, Holloway 0 pts, Boo 8 pts/1 assist, Eldridge 6 points) saw four of their five guards combine for zero 3-pointers and 16 pts.)and overall have pretty bad games.)
Defensively, UNI's frontcourt went for 37 pts/21 rebs.
What do they have to do to fall under a "B"?

I guarantee DR would have flunked 'em!

Odzic and Holloway fall under bench:

                              BENCH: D

UNI??™s subs outscored the Redbirds??™ reserves 26-6. Mike Vandello gave the Redbirds a huge lift with 11 quality minutes after playing four minutes in previous 11 games.
The frontcourt and backcourt grades are mostly given for the starters.
