  • Kansas goes down

Kansas State beat previously undefeated Kansas 84-75. Michael Beasley was a ton.

I guess Beasley is 1 for 1 after predicting the Wildcats would beat the jayhawks twice this year.

Sasha Kaun continues to play terrible.
Can't stop anyone inside and adds nothing on offense.

The mock drafts used to have him in the lottery portions for 2008, but now he's dropped well into the bottom half of the 2nd round, and will soon drop out!

I can't hear about Kansas State without recalling this event last Fall. I don't remember it getting mentioned on this board, but it is one of the more unusual things (that I am aware of) to have ever happened at a college basketball game.
Not only do they lose a game at home to an average Oregon team in a game that the should have won in regulation, only to squander away a cha...

This is a Kansas web site ... obviously they are having some fun at Kansas State and Bill Walker's expense. I guess Kansas State got the lastest laugh though beating the Jayhawks this week.

interesting talk on both the K-State and the KU boards that Beasley has not set one foot in any classroom since mid-December, since he can't possibly become ineligible now until after the season and he isn't planning to finish college anyway.

It's the exact scenario Bob Knight and others have talked about when arguing that the NBA's age limit rule is a terrible thing for the college game. I would have to agree. Raise the age limit to 21, or don't have it at all.

Then the NBA would be shooting themselves in the foot, as all the best talent might be willing to play in college for ONE year but they won't give up three years of prime $$ earnings. They will go play in Europe, and then the European game will fourish with all the superstuds like Beasley, Kevin Love, Rose, Mayo, and EJ.

Almost any scenario you can dream up to keep these kids in college, the lure of the HUGE payday will cause them to find a way to defeat the whole purpose of it.
Even if you find a way to keep them in college for 4 years, someone will start up the next ABA and steal the talent away from the NBA.

I'm all for keeping our sanity but this is America last I knew and adults have a right to make a living. If they can go to war and die who really should care if they try to go to the NBA. Don't get me wrong I like that some of these guys go to college but these one year cases isnot good for the game. They should have an exemption rule where the NBA practically guarantees a HS player will be a first round pick, Dwight Howard, LaBron James etc... or they have to play 2 years of college ball. The others that feel that they are worthy well let them go over seas for a bit, The NBA would still have the best product on the market.

That 'right to earn a living' argument doesn't work for the NFL, so I don't really think it applies here either. Just because they have a right to earn a living doesn't mean they have a right to any job they choose. The NBA is a private entity, and has the right to set whatever employment qualifications it wants. There are age requirements for several jobs in America, including being the president.

If they're not going to have an age requirement, they should institute a rule similar to baseball, where if you choose to go to school over the pros, you have to stay at least until you're a junior. If the NBA had a true minor league system, this might work. Right now they don't, despite what they might pass of the NBDL as being.

BB no argument here! I agree that something should be done for 99.9% of the candidates but someone like LaBron James should be given the green light to play NBA ball after HS. In basketball they can choose to go over to Europe and play if they are that good. They would also be recieving an education overseas for better or for worse. I like what baseball has done!
