  • Big Win

Best D we played all year. I really like what I am seeing out of Austin.

    Lets keep it rolling!!
    Can we start winning soon?

Agree.....we also worked it nicely inside tonight instead of shooting all 3's. need saturday and next wednesday and then we can really start talking about going after a 2 seed.

Nice win. We started slow, but we had an awesome 2nd half. I do like what Rashad Austin is bringing to this team. Great job, Rashad!

Coach Stowell just gave Rashad an AWSOME critique during the post game show.....................no audible response from Austin, though. If he takes it to heart and gains some added motivation then I think we can expect continued improvement (maybe domination) before the season's over

I think that there is a strong possibility that we could see Austin as a permament starter by the end of the year.

Not with Matt Salley on the roster.

I agree though, IMO Austin is our most talented post player (excluding Anthony Thompson) and should be playing 20+ minutes a game. I like what I saw from him even in garbage time early in the season. He's a talented kid that hustles his rear off, which is a great combination. Case in point - Austin takes a somewhat wild shot (avoiding a charge) on a pick-and-roll, and ends up on the ground. Indiana St is off on a fast break, misses the layup, and Austin goes up high for the board after SPRINTING the length of the court after being on his back. That's some heart, fire, and desire right there. I want to see more of him (and Singh too).

Does RA qualify to have "DA fire anda passion," for BU hoops?

I agreed with your entire post, BB (as I almost always do) but especially this part. I want to see what Austin and Singh could do together...

I know where you are coming from BradleyBrave, but I'll stand by my quote even with Matt Salley on the roster. Agree with you about Singh as well.

It seemed like Austin played more than 16 minutes last night. I want to see more of him. It seems like he makes everything when he gets the ball in the lane. I also like what Singh brings to the table in short 2-3 minute bursts. What he lacks physically (being a step slow) he makes up for with his basketball IQ. He always seems to know where to be when Ruffin drives, and he finishes around the basket.

As much as I don't like Salley at times, he is producing on the boards as it seems like every game he is grabbing 8-9 rebounds. Maybe it's just cause he gets more playing time. He needs to learn how to finish though as I'm getting tired of him missing lay-ups.

You are preaching to the choir!! More Singh and Austin (at the same time) and a
lot less minutes for Salley. Ruff will find Sam on that pick and roll if he is ever given
the chance to log some minutes. Then sit back and watch the open shots become
available for our good shooters. Mark it!

FWIW, I didn't want this to turn into a 'Rip Matt Salley' thread. He has been playing better of late, I just prefer him (and think he excels more) in a 6th-7th man type role playing 10-15 mpg. Matt was great at WSU, and despite missing yet another point-blank layup last night, played pretty well again.

while we are being pretty hard on Salley...he did play an inspired second half.

First half i did not like one bit of matt salley...terrible D. missed alot of offensive looks and overall played poor.

I think Les yelled at Salley and gave him an ultimatum

It seems that any time Salley is "on the ropes" or "this close to being benched" he picks it up. Hopefully that helps him.

And its nice for Salley knowing he has a solid player like Austin behind him that can get the job done. Adds some confidence to the game knowing you have good support
Gloria: Who's side are you on?
Jay: She's my daughter, you're my wife. Let's remember what's important, there's a football game on today
