"Chicago State said Wednesday that it is withdrawing from the Mid-Continent Conference.

Chicago State president Elnora Daniel said in a statement that the university will seek membership in a new conference that reflects its evolving institutional profile, which includes expansion and enhanced "access to other metropolitan communities."

In other words, they will look into getting into a conference that they might just be able to win a game once in a while.

They will compete as an independent effective immediately, and will leave the Mid-Continent Conference, which they've been a member of since 1994.

Now that Chicago State is out of the Mid-Con, there is a move to get at least one new member.

Here is an article saying the Mid-Con is pursuing SouthDakota State, North Dakota State, and Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne.
I personally think it is a big step down to take one of these guys over Chicago State.

Rumor is that within the next few days it will be announced that
Valparaiso will be leaving the Mid-Con and join the Horizon League.

It is being announced as a done deal.
