This game is a must-win. Indiana State started off conference play strong at 3-0, but has struggled ever since. Unfortunately for the Syckies, people in Indiana have seemed to forget about basketball at Indiana State and that there even is an Indiana State University.

Indiana State is 9-0 at home this year, but just 1-9 on the road.

Despite the new coach (Kevin McKenna) and the improved play, Indiana State isn't drawing as many fans as last year. They are averaging only 3,766 per game in home attendance this year.
This is last in the MVC by far. Last year, they drew 4,328 per game.

They rely heavily on the outside shot, but they don't shoot it very well.
As a team, Indiana State shoots 41.2% overall (9th in the MVC), and 33.1% from three (7th in the MVC).
Their best shooter, senior Gabe Moore is 46.1% and 38.8% from three, and their most prolific shooter and top scorer, soph Marico Stinson shoots 40.3% and 37.7%

The Sycamores also don't rebound very well. They are 8th in the MVC in rebounding, 9th in rebounding defense, and 10th in rebounding margin.

Don't worry, BU will win this game easily.

InSU gave ISU all they could handle Sunday so I wouldn't call it a "gimme"....of course ISU was without Slack, the guy ONE ISU fan thought would have provided ISU with a 6-8 point win had he not been hurt against BU the other nite.

Of course when I asked how much BU would have won by with a healthy Ruffin playing his usual 38 minutes opposed to the 18 minutes he saw at about 60% health that nite the answer was STILL the same.

Slacks good and would have helped ISU against BU but the Valleys BEST player sat almost an equal amout of time.

Sad that a school the size of Illinois State, with as good a team as they have this season, can't get 6000 to a game except when they play Bradley.

Gotta keep the momentum rolling. Hope there's a good crowd and a sound beating! I must say though, that I am gonna miss Royce.

I know you are trying to be cute but don't flatter yourself Chico. You don't find it sad. You have fun with it and enjoy it, so be honest.

7,000+ have been at the Cincinnati, WSU, InSU, SIU games this season. There will be 8,000 plus at each remaining home game as well. At the end of the year the average will be decent and far more than has been there in recent years with home games left with Drake, Creighton and the BB game plus your school. I guess Redbird fans are like White Sox fans. Attendance at homes games is only solid when the team is winning.

Our attendance is picking up, slowly but surely. What is hurting our average are the several games in November that drew in the 4-5K range. Since early December, our attendance has started to improve. We should get good crowds the rest of the way, with a possible sellout or 2.

I personally hope ISU continues to have improved attendences at their games. When they had their really good teams in the mid 90's that place was full and they brought great crowds down to STL.

This is a big game for us and hopefully the students will show up in full force as they did against the other ISU; every game needs to be treated as the most important one by both the fans and the players if we want to continue our momentum ; I do not see any easy games.

Shouldn't that be 5-4 in the MVC for IN State? Unless yahoo sports had it wrong before the ISU game sunday morning. I remember thinking we had to beat them on Wednesday to be tied for 3rd or 4th.

yes, Indiana State is 5-4 in the MVC, tied for 3rd right now. If ISU can play as well as they did against the other ISU Sunday, then it should be a pretty good game. Each game they look a little better.

Just another reason to hate ISU!

I've always drawn that comparison. But it goes deeper than just attendance. ISU fans are like White Sox fans in that most (not all, so don't jump all over me) have an EXTREME inferiority complex because their rival always has better attendance at their games. The inferiority complex also runs into the fact that ISU obsesses about BU, wishing for our demise (again, remember how many threads were on the ISU board about BU) and we couldn't care less about their failures, because we're focused on our own team. We have such a strong fan base we don't need to try and make ourselves feel better by trying to cut down our rival.

Of course, as always, ISU/White Sox fans will vehemently deny this ... but it's simply a fact.

Luckily there are some good fans of my personal rivals, and DannyCooksey is one of them. I'm glad you continue to post on this board, as you usually have a pretty good concept of reality, unlike many of the others who support the Birds.

Oh ... back on topic ... BU should beat Indiana State Saturday and I'd be very surprised if we didn't.
                              Go Braves!
