  • Valley's best Freshmen

And I rank them according to their play thus far.....
I think the Top TWO are close, everyone else is far behind!

    1-P'Allen Stinnett (Creighton) 10.9ppg, 3 rpg
2-Sam Maniscalco (BU) 7.5ppg, 11.5ppg in Valley play, 5.25 assists per game in Valley play, 2.16 A/T Ratio
3-Pieter van Tongeren (Evansville) 7.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg .583 FG% in Valley play
    4-Kenny Lawson (Creighton) 6.2ppg, 3.2 rpg
5-Isiah Martin (InSU) 5.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.0 blocks per game (leads the Valley)
    6-JT Durley (WSU) 7.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg
    7-Carlton Fay (SIU) 2.7 ppg, 1.6 rpg
8-Kerwin Dunham (UNI) 3.9 ppg, 25.5 minutes per game

My rankings have changed after seeing last night's game and the few before that.....
There are so precious few freshmen playuing at all in the Valley, that I have to really dig to find enough to even fill an All-Freshman Team!

    1-tie- P'Allen Stinnett (Creighton) 10.9 ppg, 3 rpg

1-tie Sam Maniscalco (BU) 7.5ppg, 11.5ppg in Valley play, 5.25 assists per game in Valley play, 2.16 A/T Ratio

    3- Kenny Lawson (Creighton) 6.2ppg, 3.3 rpg

4- Pieter van Tongeren (Evansville) 7.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg .583 FG% in Valley play

5- Carlton Fay (SIU) 2.5 ppg, 1.7 rpg I know his numbers don't impress, but I like CFay, and he really is one of their best shooters, 37% from 3-pt

6- Isiah Martin (InSU) 5.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.0 blocks per game (leads the Valley in blocks, but he doesn't do much else), but based on minutes played, he'll likley get that 5th spot on the All-Frosh team and Fay will get left off since he's only getting 11 min per game.

7- Kerwin Dunham (UNI) 4.0 ppg, 25.1 minutes per game- he doesn't really do much, but they have NO depth and he does give them some minutes!

8- Casey Harriman (Creighton) he doesn't play much but he hits 52% on 3-pointers in conference play

      Tornado -

I was curious why you include conference stats for some players but not for others...

          T-

When was the last time BU had a Freshman of the Year? Wasn't Deon Jackson a FOY back in 1992-1993 season? As I recall, AP was 2nd behind Shea Seals his freshman year...and what about Phil Gilbert?
