But if Ruffin would not have been hurt we would be sitting with 0 or maybe ONE loss. Just my feeling. Sam has been fine.....no one in our conference runs the point like Mr Ruffin does though.
I like your thread heading. Reminds me of the classic Rodney Dangerfield line, "My psychiatrist told me I was crazy and I said I want a second opinion. He said okay, you're ugly too."
But if Ruffin would not have been hurt we would be sitting with 0 or maybe ONE loss. Just my feeling. Sam has been fine.....no one in our conference runs the point like Mr Ruffin does though.
He is an absolute difference maker...PERIOD.
OK you're crazy, maybe 2 losses would be more like it.
Last night stats do not support me on this, but the biggest difference is how he improves our defense. He makes it much more difficult for opponents to do what they want to do. On another thread SanFran Pete said he disrupts. He gets thru ball screens like no one I've ever seen. Sam will get better at that with experience.
The other factors have to do with team mates all moving one player down on the opponents skill level chart. And, also, they all can have their minutes lowered. He just gives the team more flexibility. Can you imagine what it would have been like playing Michigan State and Vanderbilt without him. (See the second half of the VCU game).
Offensively, he's probably not going to put up better numbers than Sam, but knowing the offenses and reading defenses he excels.
It almost hurts to acknowledge this, but we win the UNI, Drake, WSU, and possibly the VCU game with a healthy Danny, IMHO.
Everyone on here is cheering for Drake to lose and Creighton to beat this team and that team so that the Valley can be a 2-3 bid league. Why not US! Why can't we be that team that wins in St. Louis and forces the Valley to be that 3 bid league. Like I said in a previous post. WE WILL WIN THE VALLEY TOURNAMENT! WE WILL BE IN THE NCAA! There is a reason that we were picked second in the conference. It is because this team is VERY TALENTED, Ruff is back now, so it's on again. GO BU!
