Here is a story about a kid who signed yesterday with UALR,
the school Porter used to be at, but it goes into pretty long detail about how strongly Porter Moser pursued the kid.

"Northern Oklahoma-Enid forward Rashad Moss signed a national letter of intent to play for UALR on Tuesday, the seventh day of the spring signing period.
Moss, 6-7, 215 pounds, was UALR's top target most of the spring. He averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds per game and was named Northern Oklahoma-Enid's student-athlete of the year.

Moss was also recruited heavily by Illinois State...
He visited Illinois State last weekend and canceled a scheduled visit to Butler this weekend.

UALR coach Shields visited Moss on Monday night, and Moss committed to UALR. Just after Shields left,
Illinois State Coach Porter Moser and assistant coach Daniyal Robinson visited, trying to change his mind."

Apparently even the ISU people don't know about all this and about where Porter was Monday night, as there is not even one mention of this kid on their board!

    This is a weird story.
The news release on Slack says he talked with porter on Monday and faxed the LOI to Porter Monday night.
But this story says Porter and one of his assistants were in Oklahoma on Monday night.
Do any of the ISU posters know which article is correct?
And now that Porter has Slack, why would he still be pursuing Moss?

I can honestly say I have never heard that name before for the Birds.

I don't doubt that Porter and Crew were still recruiting with or without knowing about Slack's commitment. (keep in mind we have lost players in the past, in the summer).

If the UALR recruit just verballed, then it would be perfect legal for Porter and Crew to continue to recruit him.

If you look at the timeline, it says that Moss committed to Shields on Monday night, that had to be a verbal. Moss then signed a letter of intent on Tuesday.

I think Porter and staff were probably using Moss as a Plan B, in case Slack decided to go to Mo State.

Though it would have been really interesting to see how that communication would have gone between and Moss and Moser, with Moss already agreeing to come to UALR.

And I am sure that Porter will continue to recruit kids, in case of departures.

Moss is a name I have never heard mentioned for ISU or anywhere else.

        Good find Chi-Town.
