Here's a little update as compiled by a guy who looks only at the NCAA Tournament teams...........

    It is actually quite sad........
only 64% of the teams in the tourney graduated 50% of their players
and 22% graduated less than 40% of their players over a six year span.

The top four teams in the tourney as far as graduation rates are
Butler, Notre Dame, Purdue, and Western Kentucky
(oddly, all quite close to each other and a circle with a 100 mi radius would cover all four)

Keep in mind, the average grad success rate for all schools is 78%

BU's performance is pretty amazing given that it is running a renagade basketball program

I wonder what the graduation rate is for students who take Phil Luciano's yellow journalism (or is it red sweater journalism?) courses.

Among all the top seeds (#1 and #2 seeds)

UNC has the highest graduation success rate and Georgetown is 2nd - both are close to 90%

The guys at the bottom of the chain are
Tennessee and Texas at just 33%, Kansas at 45 percent and UCLA and Memphis graduating 40 percent.

As someone who took two courses with him, most of the people I knew in the classes graduated. Say what you will about his columns and opinions, but the guy is a darned good feature writer and that's what he taught, not "yellow journalism." I learned a fair amount about writing in that class.

Back on topic, great for Bradley. I remember a lot of the athletes I interviewed while at Bradley seemed pretty intelligent (especially the women's cross country team). It reflects well on the school and the department.
