Well, we're nearly 2/3 of the way through the season, and I think it's unanimous that our biggest deficiency as a team is our interior play. It was decided prior to the season that a redshirt for Anthony Thompson was the best idea because of our supposed depth up front. Thompson looked to be the best inside player in the exhibition season. With our interior deficiencies, was that the best move for this team, this year? Will Egolf has looked lost all season. While I do think he'll be a very good player for us, this year he clearly wasn't ready to contribute.
I know hindsight is 20/20, but it looks like we may have made the wrong decision as to who to redshirt. Don't get me wrong, I am very glad and very excited at the prospect of 4 more years of Anthony Thompson, a guy who I think can have an Adebayo Akinkule-like impact defensively and maybe score a little better. However, I think Thompson could have given us an inside presence on both ends. Of course, with Matt Salley continuing to log bushels of undeserved minutes, it may have been a moot point to begin with.
