I would liken a free throw to a 5 foot putt. Not too hard, but just long enough to mess with you head. I've played both sports collegiately. I could make 5 footers all day, but maybe I was just never a good free throw shooter?

Quiet is not good in baketball.

Wow, if even half the energy some people must spend identifying and complaining about what others do at BU games,
they would spend that much energy cheering their own team, we'd really have a great environment!
Blue hairs, sitting down, running in the aisles, holding signs, the wave, standing up too much, etc..
I have an idea...let other people be fans in their own way, and just cheer in your own way!

I've been to high school games where students do this on occasion. It's interesting.

I should clarify from my previous post. The timing was poor to start the wave, but the effort shouldn't be punished. Suggesting security should run down these people is such a joke.

Then again, I'm coming off a game -- Wednesday's vs. Drake -- in which I was yelled at from five rows behind me to sit down at HALFTIME! Hey, if I didn't have to sit throughout the entire game because of the geriatric ward that is Carver Arena and Bradley basketball, I wouldn't have to stand at halftime.

For the rest of the season, I WILL stand after every Bradley basket.

At the time it happened, I wasn't thrilled at the bad luck of having the run-by happen at the exact time Sam was shooting, BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT!!!!..............

I'll deal with it rather than ever speaking out against a person trying to get the crowd into the game. While sitting in with the band, I have tried to get the crowd going on occasion, and let me tell you it is a very lonely task down there. It is hard to fathom just how anemic some of the fans are down there.

It was just bad luck, and everyone is making a bigger deal about it than it deserves.

                    The Wave

I don't care if they do it. I wish they would think of something else though. I can't bring myself to participate. I just feel like too much of a dork. It was cool and new 20-30 years ago. It makes me think people must be watching this thinking how pathetic Peoria is it just got to doing

Longtimelistener, here I go again. Posts like yours get to me more than any other. If it wasn't for the bluehairs, you'll be one someday, you wouldn't have a division 1 program at Bradley anymore. Have all the fun and make all the noise you want, I'm with you, but you shouldn't knock the fans who support the program year in and year out, WIN OR LOSE.

With all due respect Chico, I was with LTL when the man a few rows behind us told us to sit down DURING HALFTIME, and we both gave him a look like "Are you effing serious???" I can understand -- and at times have put up with -- someone saying that during the game. But during HALFTIME! That was ridiculous.

With all due respect Scouter I agree with you there. In fact I don't think anybody should tell anybody to sit down at a ball game. I'm just defending us bluehairs.

It would be nice if everybody could stay away from such sweeping generalizations. Just because some elderly person was a jerk about requesting you to sit down doesn't make all of BU's old timers grumpy crumgrudgens, hellbent on ruining the exciting college basketball experience of the younger, more energetic fans. A lot of these old timers are not only usually very knowledgeable about BU's history, but many of them have supported Bradley for years with their hard-earned. Now, for those who are only a the game to "be seen" I have a different opinion. Ill keep that one to myself.

Likewise, if a student wants to try to get the whole crowd involved, why berate him? I agree, the timing wasn't great, but regardless of your feelings on the wave, at least he's willing to disregard such criticism to do what he's excited about: whipping the crowd up into a frenzy.

Being in my late 20's, I fall into the younger category. And I haven't been asked yet this season to sit down by anybody behind me. However, I am respectful to them and try to remain seated most of the time.

I dunno. It seems like an awful lot of snippy responses from a bunch of fellow Bradley fans over petty and subjective crap. C'mon gentlemen. to each his own.
