Just for the sake of wanting to see and follow his career, I would have liked to have seen him at Michigan, but I hope he does well at Arkansas.
Any time a local kid or Chicago kid can shine elsewhere, I think it is good for our region.
Patrick Beverley's mother will immediately be moving from chicago to Arkansas now that her son has signed a LOI to attend University of Arkansas, and will get a job and live there.
I will be curious to see what job she ends up getting.
Will anyone else be surprised if she ends up getting a well paid job at University of Arkansas?

I can see Danny Manning, and other top recruits getting this kind of perk. But is Beverly that good? I have seen him play. He is very skilled defensively for a kid coming out of high school. But he is not that good a shooter, and most of the points he gets in HS, he will not find easy to get in div 1. He is a bit of a ball hog and gunner, which is why a lot of schools, including U of I, were not too sad to be crossed off his list.
I have yet to see any really reliable report of Beverley qualifying or being immediately eligible, and have seen a couple unsubstantiated reports that he has yet to receive a qualifying ACT score.
Does anyone else have info on this, as stories have seemed to differ?
Back in March (3/25) the Tribune said this:
"Beverley said he has a 17 ACT score and a 2.5 grade-point average, which qualifies him for a Division I ride."
but just a week earlier, this was in the PJ Star:
"Beverley, who claims an 18 on the ACT and a 2.53 grade point average."
But a week before that it was noted on the Arkansas Rivals site that he still needed to qualify.
Does anybody remember back in the early 80's (?) when coach Verace tried to pull the same thing with Anthony Webster from Cairo, IL?................helping to get his dad a job in Peoria............I think this was what began the witch-hunt to run one of our greatest coaches out of town.
When little old Bradley tries to do what all of the big boys do ALL THE TIME we get nailed. Oh well, life as a "mid-major"
At least our guys aquit themselves well when interviewed on TV (ie: during their tournament press conferences). Made me real proud to be a BU grad knowing our guys look and sound intelligent compared to some of these "power" schools and their illiterate morons they put forth.
Don't read too much into Beverly's mom getting a job down there. There are plenty of jobs in that area that are not related to the Unversity. That area is booming due to companies such as Walmart and Tyson's, and the quality of life may be attractive to her. The cost of living is much lower than Chicago and the metro area is one of the safest in the country.
