On the weekend the MVC gets the lower refs....... with the good ones making big money from the other conferences who pay a lot more $$$$$ per game! You get what you pay for....if the VAlley really wants to compete with the big leagues they need to start paying more to get a consistant called game!

He had no opportunity to pass the ball and you could see the plan was HIM all the way.....either Simmons didn't give him an option or we just wouldn't let him find one. Good help by JC too force the TO.
It was sweet justice for JC who got totally robbed earlier when he outplayed his man for a PERFECT steal only to have the ref whistle him for a LOUSY, AWFUL call.
Favorite of the nite was watching Merf RAIL the skinny short ref for the inconsistent body fouls. He was very perturbed as he should have been.
he was in no man's land there in front of UE's bench.
I was really surprised he just didn't go up the floor and shoot straight on..he was making everything even if we had a hand in his face

There were several other bad calls, but another one that hurt Bradley--
There was an over-and-back call that went against Bradley in the second half. Matt Salley bounced the ball, and it looked to me like it went off an Evansville player's foot, and shot into the backcourt. Bradley recovered it, but it was whistled for a violation. It looked to me like another case of over-officiating, which MVC refs are notorious for.
I did like the one however where after we shoot and nobody touched the ball by a long shot and went out of bounds and the refs look at each other before finally getting it right...almost like counting Sam's shot when it was rbound basket that went in.

This was the first home ame I have missed in 6 years. No particular reason for me not going besides the fact that I am sick of how we have been playing and the drake lost just got to me more than any other loss this season. I am glad I didnt go. I got updates on my phone throughout the night and got reports from BradleyBrave after the game.
It sounds like to me that Jim Les doesnt even care who plays and at what time they do play. Will Egolf doesnt play in 3 games and gets in the first half picks up 3 fouls and does nothing. Sam Singh who has been our most consisant big man all ear, started 2 games in a row then doesnt play until the 2nd half???? DC who also hasnt played in 3 games gets a standing ovation from the crowd but doesn do a whole lot when he gets in there. Finally Matt Salley, who it seems like hasnt had a good game since last season, ontinues to get his 25 minutes and put up patheic numbers.
Anyone who gets excited about this win must not have anything else going for them in their lives right now because we should have lost at home to the worst team in the conference and possibly the worst team we played all year. I as going to sit ou the rest of the year if we lost this one but I guess I am forced to go to ISU on wednesday and probably get disappointed as we get out coached once again

- I'm really relieved we could finish a game. It took guts and we completed a hard fought victory. The guys looked like they had won the conference championship for them. For as rough of a go as we've had, they're all going to sleep really well tonight.
- The officiating was the worst I've seen this season since the UIC game. Ask any coach or player how they want the game called: CONSISTENTLY. What was a bump and a foul on one end was clean on the other end. By calling the game so tight in the first half nearly cost us the game, considering how thin we are at point guard. Let 'em play, stripes. Please.
- Evansville played very well tonight. They had an answer to almost every run and Holsinger really was raining it from the perimeter.
- Jim Les' substitution patterns absolutely boggle my mind. Austin gets two "shifts" in the first half and plays reasonably well ... then doesn't sniff the court in the second. Singh rots on the bench for at least 30 minutes, then comes in and makes an instant impact. He had the best game of our true "big" men (Wilson is not a "big" man) and only played five minutes. It's nice to see that we could finally get Collins and Egolf a few minutes. Neither did a whole lot, except for a great clean block by Egolf which was whistled as a foul, but it was still good to see them out there.
- Individuals (The Good):
> Theron Wilson - Wow. Not much else you can say, really. He was everywhere on the court and was totally on fire. Tonight ranks as one of the best individual performances of the year by any Brave.
> Sam Maniscalco - There's no way he's a freshman. He simply has ice water in his veins, with a desire to make himself and the team better every game. His improvement has been staggering and he's going to be a multiple year all conference player in the MVC. I've been singing his praises all season and this did nothing but support that further.
> Jeremy Crouch - Didn't shoot that well tonight, but finally showed some senior leadership down the stretch, rallying his teammates. His steal capped off a great second half. But please, can we find ANYONE else to handle the ball when SM is out? He just isn't suited for that role and flounders in it.
- Individuals (The Bad):
> Andrew Warren - 0-7 from the floor. I still can't understand how he looks like a superstar one game and is utterly invisible the next. I really like him as a player and maybe I just expect more. It seems that when he misses his first few shots, he loses confidence and gets too passive. Keep shooting Andrew, you're a very talented player.
> Matt Salley - Why are you SO soft? For as well as you can rebound defensively (and that was the case again tonight), that just doesn't transfer to the offensive end. Ruffin/Maniscalco would have 2-3 more assists per game if you could just hit your layups ... I'll say I liked when Salley took the ball with authority, took a couple dribbles and took about an 8 ft. smooth jumper. He missed the shot, but he at least played confidently that possession.
Good win, go get the Birds now!WE WANT HEEMSKERK!

About Andrew-- he is just a sophomore, so he will continue to have some inconsistencies. It was a bad shooting night for AW, but to his credit, I thought he played good defense. He had 2 blocks that were big, and he had 5 rebounds and 4 assists, and several tipped passes that lead to turnovers. He contributed in a big way to the win, even if his scoring was way off.

Whew, doctor, I think I feel a slight pulse LOL. Nail was almost in the coffin there last night. Crouch & Wilson had all of Bradleys points the first 11 minutes except for a couple FT's from Salley. About 25 points between JC & TW in that span. Everything else was pretty much mentioned already. Carver is gonna be a rockin come Wednesday night and the full student section will be back.

Some people have been complaining that Bradley doesn't play enough zone defense. Well how did you like the zone last night? The man to man wasn't good but the zone was painfully bad. It seemed like everytime Bradley played zone Evansville buried a 3. I'm no coach but I think one of the problems with Bradley's man defense is that their help defense is not very good. That type of inability to change and flow depending on where the ball is shows up probably even worse in the zone. Anyway a win is a win and there is no doubt this team is getting better. The team hasn't quit. The last two home games have definitely been better than the prior two.

Just what exactly do you want JL to do with our bigs?
Will Egolf-freshman who shows flashes of talent but from what I have seen, Will does not deserve to be thrown into major minutes this year. We should give Will some minutes, but those minutes should be ment to give him some experience for future years.
Sam Singh-god bless him but we are talking about a guy who has had a couple of knee operations and is a role player. He has worked his a** off to get where he is now.. More minutes...sure if the matchup permits, but as much as I appreciate what Sam has done this year, he isnt the answer.
Collins-He gets a standing O from the coach wannabees in the crowd, but basically DC did last night after the standing O what he has done on a consistent basis since the Butler game... NOTHING BUT LOOK LOST. Send DC to the bench, work with him in practice, and see if he can get anything close to looking like he knows what is going on for the 3-4 minutes he should get during the next game.
Austin-I'll give you this one...RA deserves more minutes and should play a bigger role in our substitution patterns.
Salley-Like him or not (I know he has his flaws), the effort is there and he is the best option.... as for numbers, Salley was the team leader in rebounds last night with JC.

Wow! What a sour puss! I can only imagine your posts at this time of year if you were a board member during the Sweet 16 year

I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that Collins was why the crowd stood up. I'm not sure the exact moment he came in, but it was in the midst of one of our biggest runs of the game. The fans were on their feet for the team. Collins just came in when that happened.
Speaking of the fans, I personally was really disappointed with the crowd. I kept begging people to get on their feet, especially when the team really, really needed it in the second half, but most of the area had their butts nailed to their chairs. From where I was, it's not a good sign if I could always spot Da Coach standing up and cheering for the team, because that means the other 95% of his section aren't being vocal. I generally really like our crowd support, but I thought overall it was below average for a Bradley game. The students have a big part to do with that and it's really unfortunate we always have so many games during break without them there.Go Braves!

I think you also summed up our "big" problem when you stated that Salley is "the best option". That's a sad statement in itself!???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

It is hard to cheer for good play vs a horrible team. This win is supposed to happen.
