  • Evansville @ Bradley Post Game 77-76 BU!

Wow. Another tight one. I was hoping it wasn't going to be a so close.

However, Sam Maniscalco is such an amazing player for a freshman. Way to take the game on your shoulders Sam. Draw the foul. Sink two free-throws for the win!

Heard they had the ball with 10 or so seconds....Who was in at the end? Did we pick them up at 3/4 court this time?

Evansville shot 100% on their 3's in the second half (5-5) and an incredible 15-21 (65%) for the game. I still can't figure out why teams shoot the 3 against Bradley so well. Some is defense or lack thereof, but some just can't be explained.

I wouldn't say that....JC stole the ball with about 6 secs left...in fact he had another steal before that one and they called it a foul....it was clean!

I'm glad for the win...and the fact that UE only took 5 3's in the second half..but my gosh a winless team at home and it's all we can do to win.
I thought UE played pretty poor defense most of the game and luckily TW had the game of his life so far anyway.

I don't know...we win but it's hard to be excited about it.

I thought Simmons was class going to Holsinger at the end of the game

First of all I want to congratulate Evansville on the game. In particular Jason Holsinger just played a fantastic game and Marty Simmons let him know at the end how he felt in spite of the turnover. Very classy move by Coach Simmons. It was also touching to watch Coach Merfeld interact with the Purple Aces.

Theron Wilson redefined Jim’s 24 hour rule. What Drake loss and bad performance? Amazing comeback by Theron. And Sam Maniscalco, what can you say? The kid, and he is still just a kid, is as cool as they come. He obviously wants the ball and relishes crunch time. It is going to be fun to watch this kid play for another 3 ?? seasons.

Theron had zero turnovers, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists to go along with his 28 points. Nice game TW!

TW was the only reason we were even close at halftime...what a huge half

                            Bradley story and box score!
PEORIA, Ill. -- In a remarkable twist of fate, freshman guard Sam Maniscalco gave Bradley a one-point lead with 10.4 seconds remaining and senior guard Jeremy Crouch came up with a steal on the defensive end then dribbled out the clock, helping the Braves (9-10, 2-5) snap a five-game home losing streak with a 77-76 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball victory versus visiting Evansville (5-12, 0-7) Saturday night at Carver Arena.? Just three days ago, Maniscalco drained a deep 3-point basket with 10.7 seconds remaining to give the Braves a one-point lead versus Valley leading Drake, only to see the Bulldogs make a buzzer-beating basket to pull out a 69-68 win at Carver Arena.

                              WOW!

                              So many things!

-No Merfeld on the floor before the game.... (?, but comment later)
-Tight calls the 1st half, we fought thru it and overcame (but I don't like the whining after a call... JL, tell the players not to complain or whine about a call they disagree about, that's Merf's job )
-I missed Shouse at the half - that ticks me off, was a friend of mine while I was on the Hilltop
                              -DC did ok
                              -RA was ok
-We had 2 bigs in at same time (MS with DC and MS with SS I believe) and it was ok
-As much "hate" MS has gotten, that guy has fire in his belly and tries to get the other bigs to work harder (saw it up close 1st hand in his interaction with the other players)
-TW with a great game! (btw, TW you are my FAVE!)
-SM.... Coach Beuscher said it best. When he went out in the 1st 1/2 with foul trouble, the team hurt and it showed. SM has a very positive effect on this team. As much as I will miss DR after this year, I will equally love (if not more) SM's career over the next 3 1/2 seasons!

                              .... maybe more later .....
