I was a surprised that Aaron Zobrist was elected to the BU Hall of Fame. He was a very good player at BU and when he was on was about as deadly a shooter as I have ever seen at BU. I also sincerely believe before he hurt his ankle his senior year he seriously had all the tools to have a chance to play professionally.

But, he got hurt and the rest of that year, even when he did come back and played he never seemed like the same player both in his contribution and in his intensity as a player.

Also, I do not believe he was the best player on any of his teams he played on at BU. Funches, Jackson, Parker were all better players.

VanOppen was an amazing player at BU, but she played 2 years. Sorry but Heather Best deserves to be honored for her 4 years at BU before VanOppen. VanOppen was a better player but Best for my money was the best contributer I have ever seen in a BU womans uniform.

Just my 2 cents, I was always very excited to see both play at BU. Just thought both of their selections were a little premature.

I think Van Oppen and Best both deserve to be in Hall of Fame too and I'm sure once that Heather Best is eligible that she will be a lock for the honor.

I'd like to agree with you since I loved Heather's game and competetiveness, and I think she'll be in the BU HOF. But her numbers are only good relative to how bad the history of Bradley women's basketball has been.
Since the MVC was formed in 1992, Bradley has never had a winning record in the conference in 15 years, and this year they are off to a 1-5 start.

Heather's career scoring average was 13.5 ppg (10th on the all-time list). She ranks 2nd in BU career 3-point attempts (431), but only 7th in career 3-point percentage (.357). None of her 4 seasons' shooting percentages or 3-point percentages are close to the top 10 in BU history.
Her best season was her senior season, with a 17.2 average, but her overall shooting percentage was only .390 that year (her career worst), and she was only .348 on 3-pointers.
Her senior season, she lead Bradley to a record of 6-20, and 0-18 in the MVC.

Here are Heather's stats and BU's records for her career.
Hopefully good enough to make the HOF, but unlike Aaron Zobrist, she played on some very bad teams.

        Year.....Games..Pts......Avg...................FG %...3-pt %....Team's record
        '95-'96.....27....340.....12.6.................. .426.... .351........13-14, 7-11
        '96-'97.....28....335.....12.0.................. .439.... .338........16-12, 9-9
        '97-'98.....26....324.....12.5 (team best). .399.... .381.........9-17, 4-14
        '98-'99.....26....448.....17.2 (team best). .390.... .348.........6-20, 0-18
        Career....107...1447....13.5.................. .411.... .357......44-63, 20-52

Best was just all around a good player, and yes she played on some real bad teams. But most anyone in the last 15 or so years who was part of BU womans basketball has played on bad teams.

          Best though is
in the top ten in all time BU history in

          Block shots
          games started
          minutes played
          career assists
          rebounds
          free throw %
3 point % attempts and makes
          Field goal attempts and makes
7th all time in scoring 1,447
