I posted this under another thread but thought I would start a new thread so we could have the chance to coach the team since we seem to be better then what we have presently. Read on!

We are all so much better at coaching than the real coach is that BU could save itself a lot of money by having a drawing to decise each game which one of us gets to coach (put our names in a box and drawer one out for each game) as I know that I have to be superior to the present coach and I am sure as I read all these posts that most of the people on here must have coached most of their lives so we should be able to secure at least ONE win in the course of the season if we are lucky,

And can I be on the staff in charge of substitutions. But I won't make any substitutions.... I just want a seat on the floor.

        Whatever.
No one on this board, to my knowledge, has ever said...'I could do a better coaching job than Jim Les'. This is a team that had high expectations and a supposed embarrassing overabundance of talent. They are 8-10...They have underacheived to this point, and they don't appear to be making many adjustments to learn from their shortcomings and correct the problems that they have from game to game. This is what the coaching staff gets paid (very well) to do...to teach these kids, to make adjustments, and to prepare this team to win games.
In watching the last 4 minutes of the Drake game, that certainly did not appear to be a very well-prepared, well-coached team in white. So, I think it would be a natural reaction for the fans to expect better performances from this team and this coaching staff.
No one on this board wants to coach this team...no one honestly thinks they can do a better job than Jim Les...We just want to see him do a better job with this year's team.

I'll do it if I can have Joe Stowell as my assistant. ("You can either play or you can't.")

Its not that any one of us thinks we would be better overall coaches, it is just that we fans have the luxury of stepping away from the team for 2 days and that gives us a different perspective.

I just think that the coaches sometimes lose the forest from all the trees, or however that quote goes.

Now if they would just play the trees...

Well the Cubs had a college of coaches in the 1960's and we know what
              happened to them!
              Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

This is about as fair as
'it depends on the what the definition of the word "is" is.'

Many, many, many posts have clearly stated that the poster believes he knows more about how to coach this team that the present head coach.
But then, this is a massage board and I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I guess you could deny the obvious, and I won't waste time arguing but it is obvious that many have said just that, so it is silly to claim otherwise.

OK, well, I think you are taking some liberties here...because I doubt that 'many, many posts clearly state that the poster knows more about coaching than Jim Les'...I don't disagree that you could read the opinions that some posters have and infer from them that they believe they could be a D-I coach, but that is not a 'clear statement' of anything.
But as you said, there's no point in trying to argue this point...so I'll just restate my previous post by saying, "I have never said, nor do I in anyway believe that I could do a better job coaching this team than Jim Les...". I do have the opinion that he and his staff have not done a very good job this year, and that his team looked horribly unprepared to handle the pressure that they knew would come from Drake at some point in the last game...and that it untimately has to reflect on the coaching staff in some way when a team continues to get beat game after game after game because of the same breakdowns, the same lack of attention to the same details, and the same inability to keep teams off of the boards.
But these are just my opinions and in no way shape or form could or should be twisted into some sort of inference that I am clearly stating that I think that I could do a better coaching job than Jim Les.

And you're either early or you're late. (I'll add: If you're late, you can't play. But just 'cause you're early doesn't mean you can.")

I'll share a quote I once heard from a wise man. He said, "Every man thinks he can do three things. Every man thinks he can run the government. Every man thinks he can run a church. And every man thinks he can coach a basketball team."

Jim Les is in a high profile job that gets a lot of scrutiny, especially in a market that draws more than 9,000 per game and as many as 11,500. Criticism comes with the territory. It's absolutely absurd to think fans can second guess the coach of the team they follow to the extent the members of this message board.

We might as well take it further and raffle off some playing time for those of us with some eligibility left. You could have local sponsors. Like:

Well, you get the idea, plus I'm sure with as many know-it-all, do-it-all posters we have here (myself included), once we get the chance to coach/play the BU fans will really see some phenomenal basketball.

First of all I believe everyone of us on here wants the same thing and that is for Bradley to win games and championships.
Secondly I have not heard anyone of us to claim we could do a better job then coach Les.
Third I have been to a lot of basketball games over the last 40 years and have seen a lot of great coaches and the one thing I have noticed about the differences between being what I consider to be a great coach is one that is able to make adjustments during the game by constantly changing defenses and doing things the other team does not expect.
Fourth thing is the great ones seem to always win the close games.

I'll take this one. I went to the Indiana-Minnesota game in Bloomington IN last year with a poster on this board. I held out my ticket and asked the usher where our seats were located. The usher said if you have any eligibility left you can sit right here and he promptly pointed to the IU bench.

ok seriusly--- We all have opinions--- A lot of us are alumni from a pretty good school... What we are seeing is that a vast majority of people here, both fans and alumni, care about the program. Last year I would say that a majority of posters here were talking about the excellant coaching job being done.. rightly so. This year...
---well it comes with the territory of being a college coach....
