Daniel Ruffin's unfortunate injury is the single biggest reason Bradley is struggling and where it is now in the MVC. If we had DR we would be in contention for the MVC now.
We would be better off but by how much? He would not have cured our lack of inside game which is killing us on all fronts. Would we have a better record, I would think so. DR brings an attacking relentless defense on the ball handler that no one else on this team has and that would have made our D so much better. I think the current back court players have stepped up on the O and have for the most part made up the difference. I'm still with the fans who are expressing frustration with the amount of time MS is playing. In one sequence he did not step over to help out on D, had a TO and then promptly commited a foul. On any other decent team he would be eating the pine or at best coming in to energize the team for 2-3 minutes a 1/2.

Somebody has to take responsibility for the way we are losing as we were told that this was the best group of players I have ever had at Bradley before the red-white game; also D.Ruffin is a great player but we lost to UIC with him at full strength ; the 3 major reasons we are losing is
      1 no inside game
      2 bad defense
3 lack of a good rebounder
Either the players are not performing or the right combinations or not being played ; still believe if M.Salley is our best post player then we are in big trouble and I am not faulting him as he plays hard but should be more of a role player; his stats have shown that.

I certainly agree that we were not a great team, with Ruffin. He was just a really big band-aid, and we've been exposed. (We looked horible in exhibition when he sat down, and even then had to play too much)

Without Ruff, we've found a few more answers (in consistancy in SM and AW), than we probably would of, otherwise. We should be better with him, IF the coaches play a well rounded combinations of guard minutes of our 5 good guards. Unfortunately, I think we'll stick to too heavy of minutes of the 3 best and still wonder why we can't finish games

Although Ruff was not a 10rpg guy, he did get more rebounds than I believe our other 123 guys (~3 rpg) and got several steals, and generally made fewer turn-overs. All together those little things probably added up to 4-10 more possessions a game.
the game is about possessions whether or not you get them by boards, steals, taking better care of the ball... Rebounding is not the only answer. (Of course I wish it were more of a priority, too)

many teams get through injuries though coach...I don't think it HAS to be anyone's fault but it does make one wonder when it's the same type of problems game after game. Rebounding for instance, any type of inside game for another. Many teams we have played and lost to were missing a starter or key player...maybe not as good as DR but nevertheless they still are winning games. The talk early was how much depth we had...it doesn't seem like it now and we only lost one player...I'm not blaming anyone yet...I look at a period of time...if we have this kind of year next year then you could certainly blame JL as he is the coach..that's the way it is.
I alos know it is not in some people's character to say anything negative about the team or coach when other's do. Heck if we all agreed itwould be very boring around here

I have always been in favor of insightful criticism, lefty. I just don't ascribe to the need to blame someone for undesirable outcomes.
