Yes, I hoping we play a more complete game than we did in three losing causes against Michigan State, Butler, and Vanderbilt

I say start a thread about how their fans and coaches/players don't respect us...whip the fans into a frenzy, hope the players read it and buy into the story and come out all fired up pummeling them into submission with a wet carp.

      GO BU...........

Defense. Our defense/rebounding has been poor all season. But even v UNI we allowed way to many made shots, even with the improved rebounding.

It will start with our guards, pressure Emmenecker as much as possible and get bodies/hands up on Cox as much as possible. I think the key is to contain Cox as much as possible both in his offense but also neutralize him on the boards.

And oh ya keep them off the free throw line.

They play a man to man and will probably also guard us full court, so if we go up and down we have to handle the basketball.

I think this one will be a good game and will be a very close game.

I just saw the show (rerun) of the AFV (America's Funniest Videos) on TV last night where the guy from Peoria
won the $10,000 prize for the best home video of him fishing in a boat on the Illinois River in Peoria
and getting hit/blindsided right in the face with the flying Asian Carp. He did however come in 2nd
and didn't win the final season title of best video and just missed the $100,000 prize!

Rebound, defense, do not foul a lot, attack the basket when we break their press as there will be easier shots to get rather then pulling the ball back out and re-setting the offense; lets not make them out to be better then what they are as there is not 1 team in the Valley that is as good as Mich.State or Vanderbilt so we just need to play hard and believe that we can beat them; it is up to us as fans to bring the noise level up from the start and excite our team.

Please, nobody tell ESPN about that video. I have a feeling it would not benifit the Peoria area.

It is going to be very important that BU has a clear plan in place to handle the pressure defense that Drake will throw at us. I'm sure that Drake sees that we will have a Freshman PG and 2 other guards on the floor that are not very good ball handlers, and they will likely press, trap, and pressure them accordingly.
Without Ruffin, BU simply can't rely on the point guard dribbling through those traps and presses by himself...Maniscalco has played really well in Ruffin's place, but he does have a bad habit of trying to force his way through too many traps with the dribble...and while that probably worked in HS, it won't consistently work against good defensive D-I teams.
So, I'm hoping that Les has spent a lot of time this week drawing up ways that will allow BU to beat the press/traps without having to do it on the dribble all night long. If they simply inbound the ball to Sam tonight and clear out to let him bring it across on his own, I think we will be in a lot of trouble...However, I would assume that the coaching staff would be very aware of the pressure defense that will be coming tonight and will do whatever they need to do to make sure they don't lay it all on our freshman PG to do it himself.
It will be interesting to see what they have put together...

Agree.....BU usually has a big in the middle circle. Trouble is Collins doesn't play and really made some poor decsions the few times he was there and Salley doesn't have the best hands. I'd say use Singh and Wilson in that spot. Sams got great hands and can pass and TW's can jump to corral high passes.

Not too long ago, I caught part of an outdoorsman show that featured the local company that offers Xtreme fish bowhunting tours. They bow-hunt for flying asian carp on the Illinois, behind a motoring bass-boat (The arrows have fishing line attached to the bows (hopefully with carp) can be reeled in...

I really will be surprised if we lose tonight. we have NEVER dropped 3 home conf. games in a row at Carver and I don't think tonight will be the first. Drake is still a young team, and they are due to have an off night. there is simply too much riding on this game for BU not to come out and smoke the bulldogs. BU wins going away 79-65

                          Back on topic..
I only saw highlights from the last game, but in those highlights, I noticed all made 3's were started at least 2 feet behind the line!

For a really, really long time, I've wondered why our 3 point shooters seem to always hug the 3 point line. At UNI we had a great game for seeming to spread out the offense.

You may not think that distance matters, but, for instance if you start at 24' instead of just 20 feet, the defense has to cover 50% more surface area...

I think I saw that program, too. It was filmed in the Illinois River above and below Peoria. The bow hunters were very good, but if multiple hunters were out on the river in boats moving at high speed (it's the high speed boat that provokes the carp to jump), I would be very concerned that someone would take an arrow in a leg or chest. It looked a little dangerous to me.
