  • Schedule for OB

I know this is all speculative. OB is undecided. BU recruits are undecided. Scheduling is undecided. Trying to schedule fairly with the BCS is impossible. Bradley needs to make exceptions for this season.

Bradley needs to get in a holiday tourney (which is rumoured that they are).

Bradley needs to get a BIG TIME game. Something to showcase OB. How about a 'buy' game at Florida on CBS or ESPN. No return game. Straight up on the road. Or how about at Duke or UConn with no return game. They NEED to do it to give exposure to OB.

I suspect this is already in the works/discussions. Don't b.s. us with a game like S Miss. Heard that BU was working on a couple big-time teams for a game, then they stopped taking Les' calls. We wound up with S Miss but we weren't told how we wound up with S Miss til like March of this year.

So don't B.S. us Bradley - tell us who you are after, who turns you down and why, and then tell us what lamb-chop we wind up with.

Bradley OWES it to OB to schedule for HIM. Try Minnesota for one game only. Try Iowa. Try a top Big East, ACC, SEC school. No bargaining for home-and-home and no 2 for 1's.

Let's just go and play them!

Iowa is already scheduled to play Drake and UNI from the Valley. Do you honestly think that Steve Alford of all people is going to willingly schedule a 3rd Valley team this year or any year?

I agree that Iowa wouldn't likely schedule another Valley team, but take a look at some of the weaker teams on Iowa's non-conference schedule from the past two years.

I'd say they could do (and have done) a whole lot worse than scheduling BU.

        2005-2006:
        Maryland-Eastern Shore
        Colgate
        Texas-San Antonio
        Fairfield
        Valparaiso
        UNI
        Drake
        Robert Morris (say what??)
        St. Louis

        2004-2005:
        Western Illinois
        Drake
        Centenary
        NC Greensboro
        UNI
        Western Carolina
        Air Force
        St. Louis

That's SEVEN teams over the past couple years that had RPIs near or OVER 300!!!!

Anyone care to take a guess how many similarly BAD RPI teams Bradley has played in the same two season????
        The answer is actually NONE!!!

The worst (nonconference) RPI team that BU has played over the past 2 seasons was Bowling Green this past season, who ended up at RPI = 256, but only because they lost their final 8 games and 13 of their last 15. At the time BU played them, they were not deemed that bad of a team.

If PO'B is around, I would think they would have a much tougher schedule and might get a matchup on ESPN.

I doubt Minnesota will be on the schedule with Mo being their assistant coach and I don't think Iowa can schedule BU in a regular season game (same with Wisconsin).

I'd like to see BU play at Alabama or UAB.

We'll find out in 10 days when the NCAA approves or rejects the mascot appeals. It is also the same day that the removal of the tourney exemption gets approved.

I just want to help clarify why I mentioned Iowa and Minnesota. Obviously, Minnesota for OB's home state fans. Iowa since it is close to OB's home state.

I wonder if Illinois would give us a buy game.

How about it? Let's give the Illini a call. Offer a one game buy deal. If we get beat - so be it. But, if we win - the Illini have to return a game to us in Peoria.

Hey - I kinda like that. Maybe that could be our pitch to the bigs - We'll go for the 1 game on the road, and if we win, we get a return game.

Why would Illinois (or any of the bigs) want to travel to the home court of a team that just beat them on theirs? Hey - I'd love it, but I don't see any power teams signing up for that one.

illinois is very reluctant to play at a valley school. if they do play one, it will probably be at southern illinois because of illini coach bruce weber's past connection to the siu basketball program.
