I agree with the statement coach Les made in regards to Will Egolf as he is only a freshman and that he is going to be a great player for us in the future; it was good to hear that he is putting in extra work and hopefully Andrew Warren can explain to him how tough it was for him to go thru his 1st year also as there are so many adjustments to be made on and off the court; hang in there Will and keep working at it and I guarantee you that things will get better.

I just noticed that Will, SM, DC and Thompson are in my ECO100 class this spring semester LOL. Although theres 180 people in the class so I doubt i'll be able to strike up any conversation.

If Will Egolf sticks with it and really works hard, he will become one very difficult match for anyone playing Bradley, during his junior and senior seasons. That size and agility don't come around very often. He needs to add some post up moves to his repertoire. I think he just needs to make a 3 to give him confidence there. He puts it on the floor nicely, already, has good hands, leaps and rebounds. I can see him adding 20 pounds and growing an inch or two. He reminds me of a young Larry Bird. I know that statement will bring some flak, but he does have some tremendous potential.
        Work hard, Will.

C'mon...there's no need to go there. Will Egolf is 6'8" and he's white, so he reminds you of a young Larry Bird???? Wow. I guess Dane Watts qualifies as a young Larry Bird as well, then..
Will appears that he has a lot of athleticism and runs the floor extremely well for a guy his size...which gives him a chance to be a contributor on this team for the next 3 years...but other than that, how can any of us speculate what he will become?
How about you let him hit 1 three pointer in his college career before you start conjuring up images of a young Larry Bird. Until then, how about we decide to label him as being reminiscent of a young Viktor Khryapa, instead...
Leave the Larry Legend comparisons alone...

I don't know ER3, Larry Bird never hit 1 college three either, so at least Bird and Egolf have something in common so far.

              Good point. Touche...
OK, then I guess I should have said, Let's allow Will to make one shot in a college basketball game outside of 15 feet before we start comparing him to one of the top 5 basketball players of all time...

Onetuffshot said "a young Larry Bird". He just didn't say how young. As far as I'm concerned, I hope he is another Larry Bird and Onetuffshot if right.

OK...well, if he meant that Egolf reminds him of a 13 year old Larry Bird, maybe the comparison would be OK...any older than that and it is too silly to even consider.

I hope people remember that Will is the youngest player on the roster, and he is still an 18 year old kid. His body has a lot of maturing to do.
The coaches have been working a lot with Will and he is making great progress.

Also, I have heard from people who saw a lot of Larry Bird in college, and though they make no comparisons to Bird, they have had great things to say about WE's skills and basketball intellect.

I hope people understand that when I am saying that it is ridiculous to utter the names Larry Bird and Will Egolf in the same sentence, it should not be taken as some sort of slam on the basketball abilities of Will Egolf.
Egolf will become what he will become...but he's not going to become Dirk Nowitzki or Larry Bird...so you really shouldn't bother throwing those names around.

ER, I thought you would realize that's what I meant when I said "he didn't say how young". Would you like him to be another Larry or Dirk? I would. A lot of guys come out of no where to be great players. Let's hope Will is one of those guys.

I think that by the time Will Egolf's playing career at Bradley is over, he will be a special player. That being said, like a few other posters on this board, I saw Larry Bird play for Indiana State at the Fieldhouse. Right now, there is now way that anyone can compare Will Egolf to Larry Bird.

Lets be fair to Will and let Will Egolf be Will Egolf and end any comparisons.
