Rivals reports this morning in an interview with Jeremy Fears
that Bradley has just offered a scholarship this week:

"Jeremy Fears (transfer): This point guard's number of options are exploding. He told us that Bradley, Miami, Missouri and Ole Miss have all offered scholarships this week. The chances of Wake Forest, one of the first schools to get in contact with him, appear to be shrinking. There are problems involving his credit hours transferring over to Wake and they may not have a scholarships left to give out with Crawford set to sign soon."
    ***************************

New story on Boys to Men and they now list Xavier Crawford as being 7 ft. tall!
They finished this past season 33-9,
and here is what they said about Xavier Crawford:
"[b]Xavier Crawford: The 7-foot senior from Durham, N.C., is committed to Bradley. "He has tremendous upside. His best basketball is in front of him,'' Jackson said."

    ***************************

They also list Bradley as one of the top choices for Thijin Moses
"Thijin Moses: The 6-7 senior from Canada is being recruited by DePaul, Bradley, Cincinnati, Toledo, Fairfield and Wisconsin-Green Bay. If he were in high school, he would rank among the top 100 players in the nation, according to recruiting analyst Bob Gibbons"
    ***************************

Patrick Beverley is at Arkansas this weekend visiting, and may cancel all future trips if he decides between Arkansas and Michigan who appear to be the two leaders in his eyes.
    ***************************

Jamelle McMillan, son of Portland Trailbalzers head coach Nate McMillan, is visiting on the Illinois campus this weekend.
He is known as a top defender and along the lines of Deron Williams.

    ***************************

Mason Stewart, a high scoring guard out of Naperville/Waubonsie Valley who had committed to Northern Iowa, has left UNI and will enroll at Lance Stemler's juco, Southwestern Illinois College, and will reopen recruitment.
    ***************************

A mention of Big Ten coach (Wisconsin) Bo Ryan for the North Carolina State job:

    ***************************

Western Kentucky signs a top kid out of Chicago:

    ***************************

And an article that details how college dollars can ultimately end up in the pockets of recruits:

    ***************************

A new NCAA rule disallows any junior from taking an official campus visit in the spring while a school is in session.
They can only take their official visits while they are seniors.

I thought Fears had already committed elsewhere. I really don't want that kid.

Thijin is not on our radar anymore. He isn't going to qualify.

Fears had committed to and played one year at Ohio.
He left there this past season and chose to transfer to Iowa State.
Then immediately after Wayne Morgan was fired and McDermott took over, Fears announced he was not going to keep his committment to Iowa State and has reopened recruitment.
I don't have any overhwelming "fears" about this kid, and it is possible he would be a fine player for someone if he can find a place he likes.

I don't want to sound too negative here, but it looks like the chances for a stellar spring signing class are lower. The reason I say lower is that Waithe doesn't list us in his top tier and according to Brave, Moses doesn't appear to have qualified. Both of these players would be difference makers in the Valley as they are the long and lean wing athletes that play above the rim which are few in the conference. These type of athletes would help keep Bradley on a higher stage.

As it stands right now we have 2 scholarships to offer and a high probablity for a third (POB's). Do we bank that third for next year when the coaching staff has a full year to recruit with a higher visibility due to the tournament run?

I feel kind of the same way, although I am holding out hope that we still land Sikes and Waithe. The staff is doing all they can, but unfortunately (or fortunately) got a late start in recruiting with this tourne run. We've got backup plans in case that doesn't happen, but the true windfall from this great tournament run won't be seen till next fall's recruiting class, and the 2007-2008 team.

Wasn't this a kid the Braves were looking at?

Yes, I think Jim Les was recruiting the kid. The kid is a very good player. But I had read he wanted to go to Northwestern. So no surprise, when they offered he committed.
