I got some answers from the Athletic Department (thanks to Bobby Parker) regarding a few questions that came up after Dave Reynolds' article on Sunday regarding the sale of Fieldhouse seats and other items.
Dave's Sunday article said this:
FIELD HOUSE SEATS: Anyone wishing to purchase seats from Robertson Field House prior to its spring demolition can make their requests at the next Bradley GameDay luncheon on Friday, Jan. 18 at the Michel Student Center.
The sale of the Fieldhouse seats and other items is being handled by Business Manager Ken Goldin. More detailed plans for the sale is expected to be announce at the Gameday Luncheon January 18th. BUBraves.com will have a release after the details are announced. That January 18 date apparently is not a deadline, but rather the first date that the plans for the sale of these Fieldhouse items wil be made public. So if you are interested, and can't be at the Jan 18 luncheon, it would be a good idea to contact the business office of Ken Goldin and let them know on or after that January 18 date.
Ken Goldin's office is at (309) 677-3000.
Chair seats--
There are approximately 1,000 chairback seats. They can be broken down into sets of pretty much any size, but for every end seat purchased, its adjoining seat will be lost due to the shared arm rests (i.e. One end seat will kill its neighbor seat, but any number of interior seats will knock out two more seats). That makes it hard to say an exact number of seats that are available. The price that the chair seats will sell for is currently said to be $50 per seat.
If the seats are broken down into sets of 2 and 4, and some setas will be lost, that means there could be a few as 200-300 sets available.
Bleacher seats--
The bleacher seats will also be available for sale. Since I have spent a lot more time with my butt on one of these, I might be interested in buying one.
Bleacher seats will be sold in groups of four, tops only (no base supports). The price will be $25/ 4 bleacher seat numbers. There should be about a thousand or more of these available. It would not be difficult to attach a base to these if you wanted to use them as seats.
There also has been a lot of requests for floor pieces, including several internal uses, so they are not sure yet how much of it will be available for sale to the public.
Bradley is also planning a big sale March 15 at the Fieldhouse for equipment and merchandise, but potentially for fieldhouse souvenirs, too.
I don't know what this includes, but maybe you could end up with the trough from the men's bathroom!
Bradley will try to accommodate out-of-town buyers, but they will be responsible for shipping charges. It will be difficult & expensive to ship chair seats, but if anyone is interested, you should contact Ken Goldin and check this out.
Again, the January 18 date is not necessarily a deadline for the purchase of the seats and items. But the number of seats will be somewhat limited.
We will try to keep fans up to date as more information becomes available after the Friday, January 18 Hall of Fame Luncheon.
