  • NCAA to drop the 2 in 4 rule

The NCAA to drop the rule the limited schools from playing in an extra "exempt" tournament just twice in 4 years. Since it gives schools an extra 2 or 3 games, look for most schools to seek to get into these tournaments and for more of them to crop up.

    Good info.

Also interesting to see that the NCAA has expanded the amount of games played in one season to 28 (from 27) along with NOT counting the Conference Tourney's as 1. Hmmm, let's see.... if a team plays in a Tourney with 4 games, then 27 other games (that's 31) plus a 3 game Conf Tourney (34) and 6 games in March... WOW - 40 games!

Illinois was 37-2 last season, so the rule doesn't necessarily increase the possible number of games, just that now more teams will be likely to play that many games.
