That would explain the naivete of a couple of posters on this thread.

PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley senior point guard Daniel Ruffin (Peoria, Ill./Central H.S.), the nation's active leader with 549 career assists and his team's leading scorer at 14.2 points per game, will be out indefinitely following surgery Friday to repair a sports hernia.? After two MRI exams in the last two weeks came back negative, Ruffin travelled to New Brunswick, N.J., with Bradley's Head Athletic Trainer Marcus Ohnemus to meet with specialist Dr. Andrew Boyarsky Friday.? Following the initial exam, Boyarsky diagnosed the abdominal injury as a sports hernia and performed an outpatient procedure at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital later in the day.? Ruffin and Ohnemus began their return home to Peoria Saturday morning and are expected back by the time the Braves (7-5) tip off at 2:05 p.m. against Northern Iowa (8-3) in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.
The doctor who performed the surgery on Daniel, had never examined him until Friday morning, AFTER WHICH, he then made the diagnosis and recommended the surgery.
I have a few friends in the medical profession, and I can state with some degree of certainty, that doctors don't make diagnoses and plan surgery on people who they have never met and have never even examined. If they did, then they'd be no more reliable and believable than reporters who say things on conjecture or speculation, or give paraphrases instead of facts and quotes.
So Ruffin and anyone else, could NOT have possibly known he was going to have surgery until after the exam on Friday.
Even Jeremy Crouch and Dave Reynolds could NOT have known Ruff was having surgery before the surgeon who did the operation could have even known, but I am never surprised what some gullible people will believe.
Or maybe there's a vast conspiracy going on to hide the facts from the local press...but if anyone has evidence that it was known on Thursday that DRuff was having surgery, then it is your turn to provide the link.
They may have not known 100% that Ruff was going to have surgery but they may have had a pretty good idea too and wanted it done there instead of here.
Now before you all go nuts conjecture here, I'm not saying this happened but it is entirely possible

Lefty....you're scenario is a plausible as anyone else's and to me THAT defines it all. Just like us not knowing much JL wanted to have ALL the facts before he released info. While JL might not have told what he probably realized and was fairly sure about to ME its a stretch to call it lieing.
Lieing suggest deceit with motive.....JL simply wanted to wait until he heard things directly from the trainer or Doctor and new with 100% reliability the info he released to the general public was accurate.
EVEN if his only reason was to have UNI second guessing thats not lieing to "hurt" anyone....its simply for competitive advantage purposes.

got no problem with all that dogs...like I said before some coaches would have handled it JL's way and others would have handled it differently.....
it's like some like Lexus vehicles(I don't know why) while others like Cadillacs...darn why does the icon go to the top? just pretend the smile is down here

No matter what Jim Les would have, could have, or should have said, I'm sure someone would have taken it the wrong way too. The bottom line is losing always makes it that much more difficult to let go of minute things that really don't make a hill of beans difference!!!!Go small or go home!

Along top of page, left click once on "Quick Links", then click on "Edit Options. In new page, scroll to bottom and in the section titled "Miscellaneous Options" under "Message Editor Interface", select in the drop down box "Enhanced Interface".
This, I believe, will allow you to select from smilies in a box to the right of your message that will go directly into the text. (Along with other things like Fonts, Bold, Color of text, etc)

Again...lefty....just use the keys on the keyboard and type:
colon, right parenthesis, colon, right parenthesis, colon, right parenthesis (all upper case for the keys you type)
and this is what you see when it is posted...
as I said earlier, I even talked with the team docs right BEFORE the game, and a couple of them were NOT even sure as of late Friday night, what Daniel Ruffin had done in New Jersey.
They had NOT gotten the report and were waiting for Ruff and Marcus Ohnemus to return so they could get the details.
For all they knew, he had only a diagnostic procedure, and not the full repair....so they were simply NOT willing to make a reckless statement without full understanding.
And yet there are apparently people at the PJS and even some on this board, who not only expect, but DEMAND that Jim Les must make such a statement, or they consider him to be lying.
Again, note the exact language Coach Les used...
"Les told a Journal Star reporter he probably wouldn't know Ruffin's status until Saturday. When pressed, the coach refused to rule out Ruffin as a possible participant in the game."
......so how is this a lie?...it fits precisely with every other statement that comes from Jim Les, BU, or the team doctors.
And to confirm it...even Dave Reynolds agrees totally in his column...
"as of late Friday afternoon, Ruffin's status was still uncertain for today's Missouri Valley Conference opener"
"he wasn't willing to count out Ruffin"
"I never rule out anything," Les said. "We're taking it one day at a time with Daniel."
seems everyone is saying the same thing, so I see no lies here at all.

My gosh that's a lot of work. I only use smile or wink..it's just easier to type it out. You know the icons are much easier on "the other board"(wink) although I don't think I got the quote thing figured out over there either since the change(smile).
you guys don't know how bad I am here

Nice Lefty!
And don't forget, you can always save a site in your faves and open another tab while posting and insert smilies from their site. All you do is select your smiley of choice, right click and select copy, then come back over to to this tab and then right click in the text box and select paste to get the smiley you wanted to appear.
Here is the site:
