EVEN though I still don't see any such term as "game time decision" in Reynolds' column either.
It just says he wasn't willing to "count out" Ruffin....not willing doesn't mean "is going to play" or "game time decision".
In your quote, you acknowledge that Jim Les said this:
"Jim Les said he wasn't expecting to hear the results of the doctor visit until today." (Saturday)
so....please tell me how he could have been expected to have known Ruffin's status on Friday, when he SAID he didn't and wasn't expected to know the results of Friday's consult with the Dr. until Saturday?
I still think it an incredible stretch to quote Jeremy Crouch telling that they practiced Thursday without Ruffin in preparation for playing without him on Saturday, something that seems like daggone good coaching and preparation if you ask me.
Then you jump to some wild conclusion that maybe Les knew on Friday that Ruff is 100% unable to play, a guaranteed outcome that you can take to the bank, and that he was obligated to draw such conclusion, and then give it Friday to the press??
Gimme a break.......you have to be a born and bred JL-hater to find a problem here, so I can move on and not be the least bit bothered by any of this.
Lastly, the 2nd Reynolds article you cite and link....scroll to the end...
doesn't actually seem to be quoting Crouch in regards to his teammates...note there are NO QUOTATION marks..
I have no idea what to make of it, but newspaper people are generally pretty careful about putting quotes on people's words, and they don't exist here.
There are quotation marks on Crouch's words further down......so I can only conclude those wordsa re Reynolds' not Crouchs....unless someone says otherwise.
Anyway, why is this in Sunday's story.....if crouch said this, then couldn't they have put this in thursday's or Friday's edition....why does this comment show up on Sunday and it is not cited as a quote?
I guess I have some real doubts about who really said what and when, and there sure just isn't enough for even Sherlock Holmes to draw many conclusions there. Can we start winning soon?

You don't have to post if you don't like the topic. There are 20-some other threads on the front page of this site.

I suppose LTL I just wanted to try and put it to bed.
What more do you want?
You want JL to issue a formal apology to the press and all of the fans?
You want JL to resign?
C'mon. We get it. He lied. He's the coach and he lied and I could care less. I weigh this as about as heavy as a white lie. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Now can it just die or is there something more you want out of it... and if so... start making demands for such a HUGE LIE.

When I think of "lieing" I see a person wanting to cheat or get out of something. People often lie because they are afraid of something or someone. We lie (yes we ALL lie) to hide something....we want to avoid the consequences the truth could bring.
Do those that put what JL said/did in the "he lied" category see anything above that would fit in this case?
Did anyone ever think he just didn't want to release info until he had a full report. I would offer JL simply did not want to offer information about DR to the public until he was absolutley certain he knew all the details.
Of course he could have said or presented it differently but he's answering these questions on the fly and unlike us often doesn't have time to think things through.
He was simply saying, IMO, I don't have all the facts (from the medical people) and so until I do nothing is ruled out.

Which brings me back to my question and request for closure from the 2-3 posters going after JL as if he were a felon.... You have your axe, you got it... now grind it... what do you want to freakin make of it. Let's hear it. Or then let it die - thanks for letting us all know JL lied.
Btw JL - you reading this .... you keep on leaving the media in the dark. Let them get their panties in a bunch over the small stuff.
Jeezle-Pete.

This is some serious s4!t
This whole "Les lied" thing is obviously some very serious stuff. I, for one, think the matter needs to be brought to the attention of President Glasser and AD Ken Cavenaugh.
Les should be publicly censured by The University and forced to apologize on the PA system before the next home game while wearing a pig nose, AND, he should be forced to kiss both Wessler's and Reynold's @ss at center court before tip-off.
If not, FIRE DA BUM!!!!!

Let's see, the very same reporters who claim Crouch said they knew for a fact on Thursday that Ruffin was having surgery and not going to be around for weeks (even though, of course, it has been established that Daniel Ruffin didn't even know this) are also the same ones who QUOTED Manual Cass as saying he had committed to Bradley when he had actually committed to a different school and who don't know what the definition of an offensive rebound is.
I see way too many inconsistencies in what's being reported, from a source that seems to have had inconsistencies before.
You can choose to believe what you want, but I believe the story is being reported wrong and then people are getting all bent out of shape because they believe the inaccuracy and conclude there must be someone lying.Sign in front of the Peoria Journal Star

Let me guess...........it comes from Journalism 101, and it is rule #1 and goes like this...
--"when trying to convey an idea, write down exactly what the person says, but
don't actually report what they say, make up something different and call it paraphrasing"
sure........I guess it all boils down to who you choose to believe...
a rant in the local paper or the head coach.....you took your pick so let me take mine.
I have plenty of reason to believe my pick is the more accurate.
and I still would love to see where you're quoting Les as saying "game time decision".

Oh my god... We have a 5 page thread about one paragraph that was a hit piece from a whiney reporter from a crap newspaper...
I have to wonder if some posters are pjs employees, relatives of KW or even KW himself???? --or the posters have an axe to grind on JL and are just lookng to nitpic...
That would explain the naivete of a couple of posters on this thread.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley senior point guard Daniel Ruffin (Peoria, Ill./Central H.S.), the nation's active leader with 549 career assists and his team's leading scorer at 14.2 points per game, will be out indefinitely following surgery Friday to repair a sports hernia.? After two MRI exams in the last two weeks came back negative, Ruffin travelled to New Brunswick, N.J., with Bradley's Head Athletic Trainer Marcus Ohnemus to meet with specialist Dr. Andrew Boyarsky Friday.? Following the initial exam, Boyarsky diagnosed the abdominal injury as a sports hernia and performed an outpatient procedure at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital later in the day.? Ruffin and Ohnemus began their return home to Peoria Saturday morning and are expected back by the time the Braves (7-5) tip off at 2:05 p.m. against Northern Iowa (8-3) in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams.
The doctor who performed the surgery on Daniel, had never examined him until Friday morning, AFTER WHICH, he then made the diagnosis and recommended the surgery.
I have a few friends in the medical profession, and I can state with some degree of certainty, that doctors don't make diagnoses and plan surgery on people who they have never met and have never even examined. If they did, then they'd be no more reliable and believable than reporters who say things on conjecture or speculation, or give paraphrases instead of facts and quotes.
So Ruffin and anyone else, could NOT have possibly known he was going to have surgery until after the exam on Friday.
Even Jeremy Crouch and Dave Reynolds could NOT have known Ruff was having surgery before the surgeon who did the operation could have even known, but I am never surprised what some gullible people will believe.
Or maybe there's a vast conspiracy going on to hide the facts from the local press...but if anyone has evidence that it was known on Thursday that DRuff was having surgery, then it is your turn to provide the link.

And telling the team they would be without DR for quite awhile doesn't mean JL knew DR was having sugery and that he would be out for quite some time. I think he just wanted the team to mentaly focus on being ready without him.
