ESPN reported via Tony Dungy today that Marvin Harrison was going to play 8-10 snaps tonight. About an hour before the game the Colts announced that Harrison was not going to play... I guess Tony Dungy is a liar since he was asked a question gave an answer and it turns out his answer was not correct.

Wasn't one of Iowa St's top players a game-time decision when we played them (Wes Johnson)?

But that isn't a big deal.

And it was a legit game-time decision. And he didn't play. But since he was so close to being ready to play (making it a game-time decision), he was ready for the next game.

Oh, wait. He didn't play in that one either.

Was McDermott raked over the coals for his misleading actions?

There's a big difference between a game-time decision and having surgery the day before the game.

The biggest problem I have with this situation is that he flat-out lied about it.

          Timeline:
Thursday -- Les, according to Crouch in today's PJStar, tells the team Ruffin will be out a significant amount of time.

Friday -- Reynolds talks to Les about Ruffin's status, says he's a game-time decision and makes an absolutely 100 percent false statement. That same day, Ruffin flies to New Jersey and has surgery.

Look, I don't give a cr@p if Les doesn't want to say if Ruffin's going to play or not. But if that's what you want, then say it. Don't lie to people about the situation and have your words thrown back in your face the next day.

Lefty, I'm glad you're able to see my argument here. You seem to be one of the few capable of understanding all of this.

I guess I just don't understand why people are looking for something to throw back in JL's face.

                Pregame Information?

Kind of reminds of the time that Jerome Robinson was withheld from the 1st round NIT game with Detroit in Peoria! At least JL alluded there was chance that DR would not play, that was better than MO saying nothing and letting everyone buy their tickets for the NIT game (so BU would get their cut) and Jerome ended up as a no show due to his shoulder (which we all knew was extremely bad at the MVC tourney)! Oh and by the way if anyone remembers (or were old enough to remember) BU played worse in that NIT game than last Sats disaster with UNI - as Detroit totally destroyed Bradley that night.

So, I prefer to beleive that JL's decision was related to what was best for DR and not the PJS, NIU or any of us! So we all need to get a life - if we get this wacked out over something like this I can't wait to see how may of you take a big jump off a short bridge if we end up 9-23 and take a quick exit on thursday in St. Louis!

                    1) It's tough be worse than nine points in a half and an arena record for fewest points in a game. (Yes, I know the margin against Detroit was larger)

                    2) How was lying about Ruffin's surgery the best thing for Ruffin?

Scouter wow do you have anything else to concern yourself with. This is part of the gamemanship of sports period. Everyone does it right or wrong because it does not hurt anyone. I left for the day and you are still on this! We should have had you cover the Iraq war and the Bush administration. Are you disapointed in little old Jimmie not letting the press know what he was up to? I was going to say who cares but obviously you do. I'm kind of laughing at you and that takes a lot from me to disrespect someone on this post. Luckily for you we will not find out who you are to call you out and tell you to focus on something that counts. Give it a break. I'd say your position stands for about .01% of the fans. Now go back to the I'm a fan of KW fan sight and tell him that you really fought for him. WOOOOW!!!!!

No, he did NOT. He is NOT obligated to divulge any information to anyone if he feels it will keep the other team offguard.

Why do these media types (Wessler, Mariotti, etc.) think they have the God given right to demand every piece of private information they can get their hands on? I know it's their job, but they also have to respect the right of the people they are interviewing if they don't want to divulge certain information. That's proper journalism ettiquette, not calling out someone because they don't like what that someone did or did not say!

And as someone else said earlier, acting like a four year old will not make people divulge more information quicker.

I also left for much of the day, but when I returned the thread was still very active so I came back to it. You are right. The only other people who seem to understand my side of this argument are lefty and longtimelistener, so I'll leave this thread alone and won't reply to it anymore. Nobody else seems capable of seeing both sides here.

I suppose I'll go back to my "fan of KW" SITE and thank him for at least making mention of how JL handled this situation. I hope you enjoy your time bowing down to Jim Les and the Bradley basketball altar.

The challenge to understanding it is that you expect the dissenters on this topic to be logical and objective. They're not ... so logically debating this is not going to work. They are either motivated by something in the past and dislike JL (i.e., Kirk Wessler) or they have something seriously wrong with their personal lives and they have become jaded and cynical.

                              Thanks DallasBrave.

This thread is polluted with typical "Drive-by Media"/agenda-driven posts.

Obviously the decision is the coach's. And I support the decision he makes.

But, I have to wonder what the big deal is. Most advance scouting for game prep takes place anywhere from 1-3 weeks before you play those certain teams. So the idea that not releasing certain information offers an advantage just isn't true most times.

This is the one time of the year where that may be an exception because games may be infrequent.

But when teams are cycling through 2-3 game weeks, it's just not feasible to incorporate mass game plan changes on short notice.
