  • Lavin and Phillips

Does anyone think either Lavin or Phillips will get any worthwhile minutes this season or next? Will/Are they looking to transfer?

I'm not trying to knock them, I just ask because Lavin is a junior and Phillips is a sophomore and it looks like they will continue to only play a practice role this year. I'm surprised they've both stayed at BU this long. With Sam M, TCS, and Warren returning, Thornton eligable after transferring, and 2 guards who signed LOI's, will there be any room in the regular rotation for them?

It would be great if they could come off the bench to give us Danny Adams-like boosts from last year. Does anyone see that happening from anything they've seen or heard from practice?

I'm fairly sure they always knew that their current role would always be their role, with little to no chance of that role ever changing. It may be more likely that upper class BU academic rigors preclude team participation, but they might get access to the same tutoring of the other players...
Was that Lavin who's dad went to BU? I doubt he'd ever leave BU..
Some players are realistic about their abilities and love being a small part of a high-level sucessful team more than playing time iteslf.

I would be more interested in hearing about Sweatman...

From what I know, both enjoy being part of the team, and no doubt they want to play more,
they are realistic and know they are fortunate to get any PT, as they are walkons.
At some point the load of studies, etc. might require they may in the future not play, but I don't see it happening in the middle of a season. They are team-oriented guys.

Both are real nice kids who will be very successful, but if Lavin or Phillips are ever logging significant minutes, we are in big, big trouble.

I would doubt that either of these kids are expecting to play significant minutes at Bradley. Neither one of them were D-I prospects coming out of high school. There are a lot of kids playing D-II and D-III basketball who could play the role of walk-on at most D-I schools.

Does anyone know why Brian Lavin was not dressed today? Is he injured?
Sam M played 38 minutes, and maybe Lavin could spell him a little. I don't know if Jim Les would ever use a walkon like that, but he wasn't available today.

Big Bish said that he thought is was something with academics. He said it during a commercial but the microphones are still on. He said that, then quickly stopped and said he was speculating as if someone must have told him the mics were on. I have no idea the reason but that did happen at the begining of the game when Snell asked why Lavin wasnt dressed.
                Can we start winning soon?
