Is it my imagination, or our complete lack of talented people over 6'5", that Les in in love with always playing 3 guards? Often 3 guards with 2 small forwards. We consistently get killed around the basket and all our bigs are on the bench. I think one time tonight we had Cole-Scott, Ruff, Crouch, Warren & Wilson at the same time. It might have been when Ruff was hurt and we had Sam M. in with those mentioned above. Someone please tell Coach this IS a tall person's game. It isn't soccer! I just have a complete dislike of the 3 guard strategy and always will. 3 guards every so often during a game as a change-up, but not 80% of the time!

Do not even mention Egolf, taking another shot the rest of his life does not even enter his mind. ( MAYBE THAT IS A GOOD THING), Les actually puts him in the game!
Wilson should play a minimum 30 minutes a game. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gtd - you have a pretty good point... and in that, I mean... it isn't working with the gameplan, maybe we need to change the gameplan.
I was not fond of the heavy guard offense that Villanova had a couple years ago... and then BU took to it last year... and I see many teams going to it.... and I see many teams struggle that don't have good guard play beyond 1-2 guards.
I like the heavy guards. Unfortunately, we just don't have the 1 or 2 bigs that make it work. Give it time as I think it is a work in progress. Sticks is gonna be a good one. Coach Les has and is bringing great guards.

Cole- Scott, when in the game,"reeks Juco," He is out of control ! Witness his layups . Usually high off the board with such velocity that they fail to fall anywhere near "The hole". His drives are mis laden adventures that usually fall somewhere between traveling and charging.
His 3 point attempts are usually from the corner, however "cool." have the smallest percentage of success.
He is not playing in band box JUCO Gyms, against inferior competition, but rather D_1 opponents that are comparable to his skill level.
My friend was at the game tonght, who played D-1 ball, he said Cole -Scott should NEVER, get oiff the bench!
Are you delusional or on Kool-AID ?
My God look at his STATS! Weak!

What scares me about TCS is he takes crazy shots like I did back in college intramurals... but I had a softer touch. I'm afraid one of these times he's going to bank it so hard that the backboard is going to break and the Civic Center won't have a replacement glass on hand.

What sort of offence could BU run with 2 of out current F / C's at the same time? If we were playing 4-Salley and 5-DC, the O would be dead. Sure the Bull could win a championships with a speciality player like Rodman as a 4 and a barely adequate Center like Perdue, but that's only works if you have MJ and Pippen! BU does not have any superstars, and does not have a mobile enough big to play the 4. Sommerville was great as a 4 for Jim because he was a post-up and 3 point threat. Salley or Austin would only be wandering around, setting screens.
I hold hope that eventually Egolf could become an athletic inside/outside 4 and AT will become a regular offensive threat inside, just won't happen this year.

Geez....where to start?
I guess I'll talk about the ol' 3-guard lineup because I don't necessarily need to see the squad to make some insightful comments (relatively speaking, of course....).
For the past couple of years we've run that, we've had at least one big guy who was able to rebound and be respected to find a way to put the ball in the hole. We had POB, Cellus (although he played a lot on the perimeter, he was respected on the block), and Zach (who may not have been polished, but found a way to be effective). At the very least, teams had to account for them and not focus 100% on the perimeter.
This year, we don't seem to have a big guy that demands, at the very least, a minimal amount of respect. What's been the big point output from our big guys this year? Exactly. There's no fear of anybody on our inside game, so everybody can overplay the guards because there's no fear of getting the ball down low. Maybe DC can be this guy, but until he gets out of JL's doghouse, that ain't gonna happen.
Good guard play is absolutely critical to success at the D-1 level, especially come tournament time. But, if that's all you hang your hat on, you're in deep kimchee, because there has to be some semblance of an inside game to eliminate the 100% defensive focus on your guards.
With all that, listening to JL on the post-game, he sounded way, way, way too doom-and-gloom about DRuff's injury.....I sense that it's a lot worse than any of us know.....I know I've banged on him for being reckless and out-of-control at times, but he still is absolutely critical to this team's success. If he turns out to miss significant time, we're gonna see some significant losses.......A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.

I just do not see any level of thinking in his game. He is out-of-control when he is in there. He is doing nothing on offense. Nothing. He is contributing nothing to this team. Shooting slumps will happen, but his whole game is bad right now.

Cole-Scott has not found his game yet, but he has a lot of talent and capability .. and he is coachable with a positive attitude. What we don't want are players with million dollar bodies and ten cent heads. Cole-Scott will be a solid contributor before his days at Bradley are done.
I remember many posters wanting to cut JJ from the team during his sophomore year, but there have been several posts in the last few days recalling how valuable he became during his junior and senior years and how this year's team could use a player like JJ.
