  • Stefhon Hannah Update

Seems there's just enough going on with Stefhon for him to deserve his own thread.

Although Bradley might just be one of the only schools not recruiting Hannah, there is a brand new story on jucojunction that gives the ISU people a bit to worry about if they thought they were still on Stefhon's short list.

Things are really heating up for Stefhon.....

First the article says that after a visit to Texas El Paso, Hannah was quite impressed.

"He really liked it at UTEP," said Chipola coach Greg Heiar. "He really enjoyed himself. He liked the campus, the players, he really hit it off with one of their other players. He liked the staff. He just really liked it."

But the real heart of the story is how hot the recruiting has gotten for Hannah, who it says is now being pursued by several top programs:

"I don't think he'll sign anywhere this week," Heiar said. "On Friday, Mike Anderson and Bobby Huggins are coming in to see him. I think Fresno State is coming in to see him too."

The writer of this article also posts in the premium message board on jucojunction that he actually thinks Missouri is the present leader to get Stefhon Hannah but Kansas State with Huggins coming in to see Hannah at Chipola could be persuasive.

With the signing of Richardson, ISU is no longer interested in Hannah. They have only 1 scholarship left, and they plan to sign a big man with that. Anthony Slack seems to be the leading choice.

With the difficulties they've had lately, I would think ISU would steer clear of a 'Slack'er.

Of course maybe they expect him to pick up the 'Slack'.

Well, as long as he doesn't have a 'Slack'adasical attitude, they should be OK.

ISU, if you go by potential, has one of the best teams in the Valley next season. The question is simple, though. Can Porter Moser shift his offense enough to get Osiris Eldridge (Known as "King O" in Chicago HS basketball") Boo Richardson, Dominitirx Johnson, Greg Dilligard, Bobby Hill and 2005 second half suprise, Roberto Fortes enough playing time? Good for Bradley that A) Porter Moser seems to have yet another guard oriented team and B) Still have not picked up a guy who can come close to guarding O'Bryant in the post (And yes, i know that there might not be anyone in the country who can). There is a TON of tallent on this ISU team next season and they may be the wildcard in the Valley.

            Post of the Year!

Please explain to me how that is humanly possible? ISU will be competing with the other ISU for last place next year. Book it!

              Agree
Their leading returning scorer/rebounder is a 9/5 guy, and 3 of their top 4 other scorers and rebounders are gone as well.
Even with the late season "discovery" of a guy off the bench who can give you 20 points per game, ISU still struggled to put 45 points on the board.
The new guys may be good, and maybe even can surprise some, but I really don't recall any freshmen leading teams to top of the the MVC lately.
Nothing would please me more than to see ISU get their RPI above 200 for the sake of the conference, but I am hesitant to believe it's going to get done this year.
Add that to the fact that every season for the last 3 or 4 at ISU has been initiated with bad news like players not returning, recruits not showing up, and players having falling outs with the coach, and I am not going to be surprised if some of that happens again between now and next fall.

Does anyone know if Eldridge and Hill have qualified?

RW....ISU appears to have some nice recruits. Trouble is they are adding them to a not so very good team. What I mean is I would hate to bank my season on unproven ( at D1 level) talent. Should they be better...yes, but its relative as so will most other MVC schools.

There is NOT a "ton of talent" at ISU next season. Will they develop into very good D1 players....we'll see. ISU has added what appears to be some decent guards....the MVC is LOADED with excellent guards that have proved themselves at this level.

Also, there are plenty of guys in the MVC that can guard POB. Tolliver, Falker to name a couple.

ISU SHOULD be better.....good enough to vault over 6-7-8 teams....I'd be surprised if that happened.

Yes. Both players have qualified and will likely enroll in summer classes.

RedbirdWarrior may have been a little out over his skis, but I think we will certainly be greatly improved. Richardson gives us the PG we sorely needed last year. Remember, this Redbird team already plays good defense and the graduating seniors aren't going to be greatly missed in that category. We aren't gonna finish first, but we aren't going to finish last either. Richardson and the other newcomers will provide some offensive stability that will make a huge difference next season.

Personally, I think we have an excellent chance to be out of Thursday Night. We'll see what happens.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

DC, not trying to flame.... just IMO, I think ISU will be closer to last than 1st. Heck, Bradley may be closer to last than 1st. I think the MVC is THAT good.

Was that reported in the Pantagraph?
I have not yet seen anything about them qualifying.

No. I heard it directly from the most reliable source of the program directly to my ears.

They will be in uniform this coming season.

you may be right. only time will tell. 6th place would be closer to last than to 1st and i'd be pleased with a jump to 6th place. not saying that 6th is likely, but I think it's possible. My personal hope is a realistic one in my mind. Avoid Thursday Night. If we do that, I'll take our chances in St Louis.

Why if the kids passed their exams was this fact not reported to and in the press?
It would seem that's vital info that readers and fans want to know?

Both of BU's recruits (Warren & XC) had immediate notice publicly when they had qualified.

I can't speculate on a reason why. For all I know it was reported in the Panty. I didn't feel the need to look for it since I heard it directly from a source with that knowledge. My curiosity was satisfied as was everyone's on RBF that wanted to know.
