I don't think SIU is going to the play-in game (yet), but I don't think they are winning the Valley this year. They will struggle to win on the road in the Valley, but will still be very tough at home (they beat St. Mary's there). The valley is definitely wide open right now.

I'm kinda in the middle on this....I agree with some that its to early to count SIU out but I also agree a few of those road losses AND the margin, are puzzling.

While some might feel they have had some tough road opponents often the Valley can be even tougher becuase your competition knows you much better.

I'm not counting SIU out yet but the next few weeks will be interesting. Afew more dismal performances and losses it could get VERY ugly....OTOH, hit a few shots....win a couple games and things could turn for the better.

Confidence will be a key...do they have it...if they lost it can they get it back....is it gone for good?

It's easy to underestimate how hard it is to win on the road. I don't put much stock in road losses, especially blowout ones.

SIU has been generally above average on the road the past few seasons, so its easy to lose that edge due to comfort, lack of mental preparation, personnel changes, etc. . .it's a mentality thing, and though it can take numerous games to gain that mentality, it is as easily lost as one game.
