I heard a rumor that with Wichita State extending the contract of Mark Turgeon out to 2016, that Bradley has extended Jim Les until 2046. Les wants to remain a Brave until the day he dies, so Bradley had an actuary calculate his predicted life expectancy and came up with the 2046 date.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Actually, Biff, Bradley not only re-upped Jim Les' contract out through 2046, they also have a separate clause in the new contract that when Jim Les retires, his son Tyler will automatically take over as sean Sutton did at OSU.

I also think this is a VERY SMART MOVE by Bradley to lock up a guy who lives and dies with the Braves just as much as the fans.......right now I cannot think of anyone else who I'd rather have running the Braves.......period!

Get it done and lock up a very promising future for our favorite team!

PS........I would also hope the assts coach's all get some form of bonus for the great run..........$$$$

What exactly is a JL hater?

In fact, I can't imagine any Bradley fan hating JL in any way, shape, or form.

squirrel, I will take a crack at that answer.
I would define a JL hater as someone who did not favor Jim Les as the next BU head coach in 2002, and who perhaps had a different favorite for the job.
Then when the events occurred, one might interpret that JL got the job due to predetermined bias against the other candidates.
One of the selection committee appeared to promote that viewpoint, and one of the PJS writers took that line of thinking, and not only ran with it but embellished it with a clear intent to make Jim Les look like an illegitimate holder of the position of head coach.
Then when frustration appeared in the first couple years of JL's reign, some went overboard heaping blame on JL and wanted him out ASAP and maybe even faster.
Such people have been seen describing Jim Les in extremely unflattering and insulting terms, and some of them have PM'ed me with tales of their intense dislike for the man, and even an intense desire to see him fail so as to have even further opportunity to heap scorn upon him.

I have always felt that people have a right to their opinions, but oddly some of those very people are trying to run and hide from their prior words and positions, and even act a little like happy BU fans who now love Jim Les.
(although oddly, right at the height of glory in what BU has accomplished this season -- several of those very pseudo-fans and JL-haters have absolutely "LEFT THE BUILDING", AND RETIRED FROM POSTING ALTOGETHER.
And a couple had previously been completely discredited when they lost a gasket, posted their insanity, and were deleted from the boards.)

That's my observations and my descriptions. It is even possible that one of the JL-H's could even write for some publication somewhere. And maybe someday I will show you the PM's I have saved that express such hatred for a man they never met and didn't personally know. But then those PM also express similar hatred and dislike for me as I was and am a JL-supporter.

PM me if you want to know the exact words used in PM's by a few of those guys. But only if you really want to know.
One of them in April of 2003 was a guy whose exact words to me in a PM showed up two days later in a newspaper column.

Yeah, I know there are people who still want to see Jim fail. I know somebody like that. He was really upset when Bradley started winning down the stretch, as he wanted to see them fail and dump Les.

Hate is an awful strong word for opinion. I've noticed many posters have stopped posting for the offseason, but I don't remember any of those who have disappeared ever being active posters in the off months, so I think it is unfortunate to single them out.

And of the many people who were not in favor of JL at the start, outside of maybe 1 or 2 have openly admitted that and have since applauded his efforts and rallied behind him.

There is nothing but positives surrounding the program. I just don't see the need to continually drag out old history. I find it unfortunate and not in the interest of civil public discourse.

you can call it old history if you want, but as recently as the loss over at Indiana State it was all over this board and the other one too.
Need I repost the calls for Jim Les' firing that were as recent as 2 months ago?

Whew - Squirrel, you need to run for a public office.

I agree with T's description of the JL-H's. Yet, I agree with your use of a word such as HATE. Maybe that IS too harsh of a word. But for lack of a better description in such short wording, JL-H's work. Would you prefer a much more P/C wording, like... ummm... 'those that like JL but would have rather seen someone else but now that JL has done good, he's ok' people.

I would like to try to describe the type of person that falls into this category. I won't call them JL-H's for you. I will call them the 'ttlJLbwhrssebntJLhdg,hOK' people. These people are "fans" of Bradley. They reside in Peoria and feel like they have a voice with the University. It is their home town team. They are actually neutral - but they 'show' support for the local team. They are very critical of down times and ride the wagon of up times - yes like many fans. Many of them are Illini fans for the same reasons. Many of them think you can root for both teams and there is no problem (because the Illini is elite and Bradley is well, just Bradley - my home town little guy school). And many of these home town fans wanted their home town guy. So, surprised at the choice of a coach over their home town guy for their home town team - they expected bad results. Almost wanted it - to show THEY knew what was right for their home town school. Well, with this year's success, they have hid behind their stupidity and got on the bandwagon as fast as possible. But deep inside, they feel Bradley got lucky - NO, JL got lucky. I have heard more props to CB from these type of fans than for JL. See... their home town guy, CB, was the reason for success - not JL . On their home town team.

well i know for a fact that some of the players didnt even care for jim les this season and possibly wanted him to get fired after this season so you cant really blame anyone for thinking that way if the players are feeling the same way... thank god he turned it around and the players and the fans are in love with him now
