The MVC had a really bad day yesterday. The league went 2-3, with the only 2 wins being UNI's and Evansville's wins over Division III cupcakes (which don't count toward the RPI). Wichita State lost to UM-KC who had an RPI of well over 300! And SIU, the premiere team in the MVC and ranked in the top 25 early in the season, lost at St. Louis for their 4th loss in their last 5 games. SIU's RPI has now dropped well behind Bradley's. The other loss, MSU at Utah, might be called a "good loss" in some seasons, but Utah's RPI going in to this game would have placed them 8th in the MVC! They are not a good team, and their prior 5 wins were over teams with RPIs of 313, 235, 264, 281, and 197!
As a result, the MVC has fallen to #7 and is in danger of dropping to #8 in the conference RPIs.
Bradley's RPI rose to 63 on the strength of wins by several of their opponenets (UIC, Loyola, Michigan State, Butler, Wright State, and even Maryland Eastern-Shore).
