  • Local Recruiting Opportunities

Bradley has had good luck recruiting locally over the last 5 years. We've been able to get quality players in various positions, and BU has definately benefited from local talent. I've been attending some of the high school games lately, and there is definately some new talent forthcoming. I hope that we continue to find a few local guys because we're about to lose a couple of great ones!

I agree. Unfortunately, one kid who's game is tailor-made for BU's style of play decided to go the way of a convicted and repeated cheater. I haven't heard of any 'ins' with some of the newer local talent, but I am sure JL & Co. are on the kids if they feel they're BU-caliber. Personally, I don't care where the kids are from as long as we're winning and the kids are representing the university in a positive light. Stars from Peoria are always nice though.

Taylor made? I understand people on this board like MR, but come on! Taylor made? What is taylor made for our program? A 7 footer from cold weather? Guards under 6'1" who no one else is really recruiting? JUCO's who aren't great at BBall but are athletes? MR is a good player, but I've seen a couple of his games I the only reason people are so in love with him is that he's local. Guys, he treated BU like he was better than us. That's fine, I have no hard feelings towards him, he probably has a better chance at a Final Four at IU. I want players that want to go to BU. Not players who 'settle' for BU. I know nothing I say will make it stop, but I seriously don't know if I can take another thread about how MR should've come to BU or how he should get out of his LOI and come to BU. I don't want players who have BU has their fall-back, period. I wish MR all the best as a person. I can't lie though I hope IU never wins another game, but that's totally unrelated to MR.

A 6'3" kid who's about to set the state's 3-point record is tailor-made to excel in an offense that's predicated on the 3-point shot. It's tailor-made for any guard that likes to get up and down and can shoot the ball. I'm not sure what about that is hard to understand. I didn't say he was a recruit that was going to 'take us to the next level', because he isn't.

I agree....and I don't think you're saying we really lost a HUGE recruit here. The question ws local recruits and he fits that bill.

I also don't undestand why some keep saying things like "he thought he was better then us".....I have a feeling it was a tough call for MR. The lure of the B10/IU is understandable.

What a great couple options he had and he made HIS choice.....good, bad or otherwise HE made it. Good luck Matt.

Agree Dog. MR isn't the first local recruit Bradley has ever lost. I'd make a list if I had the time, but I have a 9:30 golf game in the morning.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

What exactly does this comment mean? Do you have an issue with our recruiting all of the sudden? If so, I don't think you're paying much attention to what's going on with this program over the last 3-4 years, especially the last 2 years.

The best local kid is going to play at U of I not IU. Our program will go to the "next level" when players like DJ Richardson and Jordan Prosser stay home. Right now we are getting the second tier of Peoria hopefully with continued success much like the soccer team the basketball team will keep the BEST players home.

                Can we start winning soon?

No, not at all, my point was there is no such thing as 'taylor made' looking at previous trends for success, those are 2 types that have done well, but no one really expected it. A 'taylor made' player is anyone who JL thinks would fit in and has a desire to go to BU.

This offense is tailor made for a lot of different types of players. A an athletic wing player who likes to play defense, could score A LOT of points running the floor in transition with this team.

In the battle of "tailor-made" vs. "taylor-made," "tailor-made" wins.

I agree, there are many local talents that would be "taler maid" for BU.

That and the fact that while IU gets mocked here a lot. They are still one of the top 5 historically great teams of all time. As far as name recognition you've got Kentucky, Duke, UNC, UCLA, and Indiana as probably the top all time teams. Cant blame a guy for picking that. It's not like he choose a marginal team over us.

What has Indiana done lately? They fire a legend (even though I do not really like BK), hire a nice guy that would not break rules and takes them to the Final game, forces him out him and then hires a cheat who is still cheating! A truly great institution does not need to go that route to stay great.

MR is missing out on being in an organization that is in the cusp of going from good to great. Let's measure a basketball school by what they have produced over the last decade. Florida has a chance of being great! Tell me where do you put Indiana next to them.
