  • Dyricus Simms-Edwards

I am wondering if the rumor I am hearing is true. Has Jim Les taking notices of Washington G Dyricus Simms-Edwards. I personally feel this kid is a real D1 prospect and would be a great addition the BU roster. I am wondering if anyone else has heard similar rumors and what your thoughts are on him being recruited by Jim Les and the Braves.

Maybe he'll follow Roth to sleezeville.

Some call it sleezeville some call it a shot at a national championship... I mean I'm not sure I could pass up that opportunity!

Either way this is about Dyricus and not Matt.

You are correct. Where did he transfer from?

I believe Coach Les and the staff are FULL aware of and recruiting at different levels for EVERY player who has D1 talent in Peoria area (and the State of Illinois).

Dyricus is a 6'1 transfer from Peoria Central and he can do it all.

What are your thoughts, if any, about Dyricus being recruited by BU? Fit the system? Not good enough to play at BU?

It's hard to win a national championship when you're banned from postseason play.

BU put a ton of effort into Roth and he chose "sleezeville". Think they would put that effort in for his team mate?

I saw him play during the summer a couple of times.....he is talented for sure....guess it depends on BU needs and fit....

Johnson is doing great isn't he!

By the way welcome to the board......

I'm really starting to like his game more and more I think the staff should be keeping a close eye on him.I think if he keeps working hard on his game he could play ar BU.

Is Indiana going to be banned from post season play next season? Anyways, I really think Dyricus would add a lot to any roster that would be lucky enough to have him. He would look good wearing the Braves uniform in a few years!

Macabre, I would certainly believe that to be true. Jim and his staff are always looking at new players. If Dyricus is a player that could add something to the BU roster and team chemistry, then I believe Les and his staff would make every attempt to recruit him to Bradley.

I would be surprised if Indiana is not banned next year.

Matt Roth is 26-66 (39%) from 3-point range so far this season.

He has scored a total of 143 points in his team's 6 games (6-0) for an average of almost 24ppg.

Now-- remember, the 3-point line WILL be moving further back in 2008, and I am not so sure that a 6-3 kid who hits only 39% against high school defenses, is going to be able to step back another foot or so and still be effective against Big Ten-caliber defenses.

I know some will defend Matt by saying that the defenses "key" on him. But you have to realize, that every good player in America and the best player on every high school team also has the defenses "keying" on him, so how is this any different?
The article today about Edwards points out that either Matt Roth is benefitting from having another talented scorer to draw away defenses, or possibly Simms-Edwards is scoring so much mainly because the defenses are paying so much attention to Roth.

Why did he transfer, was it for basketball only?

According to the story....the transfer was completely and purely for basketball reasons,
and it says he even contemplated other schools and settled on Washington as he knew they'd be the best team in the area.
I also heard this through unconfirmed sources, that the coaching staff at Central had made it clear the main plan on offense for the Lions under Dan Ruffin would be to get the ball to DJ Richardson.
That scenario caused several underclass kids to transfer.

Wes Huett made mention of this in his story from a week ago.
"The Lions struggled with their roles last season, but with the transfer of a handful of players,
they have seemed to add by subtracting. The remaining players seem more comfortable with their jobs."

"struggled with their roles"....means that those guys were supposed to do as the staff said and get the ball to DJ, and they didn't really want to.
