  • Mark Turgeon Stays a Shocker

Mark Turgeon has said no to Oklahoma and has signed a huge contract extension at Wichita State through 2016. Terms were not available

This is good news for WSU and the MVC. The way things are going for the MVC, moves like these are lateral - not to mention, the new Okla coach is walking into a bee hive.

When are up and coming coaches gonna learn that the jump to the BCS schools is not a good idea. Ex: Waters from Kent, goes to Rutgers and now is back to Cleve St to try a major overhaul. Shoulda stayed at Kent. Or Collier, left Butler for Nebraska. And really Monson to Minnesota hasn't been the smartest move IMO. Yes, there are a few success stories but they are outnumbered by the failures.

Just one of my little rants. Anyway - glad to see Turgeon stay.

The reason that I thought Turgeon would stay is that he is assembling quite a roster and that Wichita would take care of him financially. He is stockpiling some big guys to go with some quality guards. It looks like WSU is raising the bar in the Valley.
