People may be talking gloom-and-doom for SIU, but they've got a great opportunity to solidify their at-large status in their next 5 non-conference games before the conference season starts. SIU should go at least 4-1 in that stretch, which would include wins over potential mid-major at large teams St. Mary's (RPI #1), Butler (RPI #31), and Western Kentucky. Couple that with BU's next 3 opponents (@ Wright St, @ Butler, VCU), and the MVC still has a chance to solidify itself squarely to be a multiple-bid league.
