  • Good Loss.....

That was a good loss...if there is such a thing.

There was ONE big reason why we lost the game, rebounds, specifically, all the offensive rebounds that Mich St. got. The other valley schools, and the horizon non-con opponents we have coming up, will NOT out rebound us like that. There are good things to come for this team. Collins is going to be a MVC stud before its all over. Losing sucks, but this one showed me alot.

    Go braves.

well, i hope it was because bu wont get that kind of crowd for quite a while- tough game but good teams find ways to win and it could get real ugly real fast with this road trip

Sorry but there are no moral victories and this is tough to take as we led them for most of the game.

I know people will say that we only lost by 5 to the number 9 team in the country and that it was a good loss, but the truth is that it is not a good loss. If we would have been losing all game and kept it close and just hung in there, maybe it could be a good loss. But the point is that we were winning from the 9:25 mark in the first half to the 4:24 mark in the second half with a couple of ties in between. We had this game. We played well for 35 minutes and lost it in the end. Yes we had lots of rebounding problems and maybe a couple of questionable calls, but even through that we were winning. This one should have been in the W column, especially if we got better rebounding. This is a very tough loss to take.

There is one good thing that came out of this however. Michigan State was ranked #9 and they had trouble with us at home and the crowd played a big factor in that I believe. If we can get more crowds like that, we can hang with any team we face. So here is a huge nod to the crowd that was unbelievable tonight.

I certainly believe in good losses whether we led most of way or not. If Davidson can get into the top 25 by losing by 3 against a top 10 ranked team, it certainly has some positive effect. Either way, all this may be moot come March if Bradley dominates rest of way, even with a loss at Butler.

I am going to be the first to say this.....we are going to have to beat Butler for some type of Resume builder. We should of won tonight. This team can do it and I am going to Butler to root them on. Vanderbilt slipped on by, Michigan State slipped by....we have to start winning the big games. If you can beat a Wright State on the road and somehow beat a Butler on the road, you will get some merits. A Michigan State home loss is not as bad as it sounds. Lossing to UIC is going to kill us. This team is going to have to pull off some magic on the road.....NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are such things as good losses. The drubbing we took by Wichita St at home the year of the Sweet 16 run set-up our strong finish.

Nevertheless we do need to start winning these big games, that's the next step.

Let's hope we play like we did tonight against the rest of our competition.

Losing is never good, but its how or what you learn from the lose that will make the biggest difference.

If we take this and use it to both elevate our confidence and say we know we can and are as strong as one of the best teams in the country then it can be positive.

But if we do not continue to grow and we sulk or individuals sulk because of their performance ie Collins and Egolf then this was a really bad lose.

The key of course wil be how we play and respond at Wright State next week.

Obviously there are nay-sayers to the idea of a "good loss".

But in the end we learned alot from our loss. We learned of our weakness down low, rebounding and bodying up.

We learned we can play with a big time team. We led for most of the game!

Its a matter of sematics and basically I agree with you but the stament "good loss" is kind of an oxymoron.

Its kind of like in life (Ditka) where you make or take something good from something bad. The loss to MSU was bad as all losses are but there are many positives we can take from this game. Its NOT what happens to you that matters but how you react to what happened....i.e., the WSU loss years ago as you pointed out.

The next game will tell us alot of how these guys react to this loss.

google images, i looked up Bradley University Basketball or something like that. I also saw it randomly on Ebay later on that day when I was just bored and looking up stuff.

actually I just bought one too off of Ebay because I was looking at it again and I like it and I wanted one.
