They get spanked by Indiana yesterday. Do they really miss Tatum and Young that much?

SIU looks vulnerable

SIU was 1-14 from 3-pt in last night's game, and was 6-17 last game, and 6-17 each of the two the games before.
They are now shooting only 29% from the arc, and 41.9% overall.
They aren't easy to beat, but they are vulnerable.
One of the media stories says the SIU crowd continually chanted "Gordon Stinks".....but....
the people on the message board seem to think they used a different word.....and instead of "stinks" they used a word that rhymes with "bucks".

Yeah, well, I'm a little concerned that the Valley is setting themselves up as a one bid league this year. However, the realtimerpi numbers suggest otherwise. Hopefully Bradley, Creighton, SIU and maybe one other team can grab a couple of marquee wins and prove me wrong.
Anyway, a nice win by Bradley last night, and let's hope we can grab this win over the mighty Spartans on Tuesday night!

SIU really struggled with their offense with horrible outside shooting. If our new bigs continue to come along we can contain Falker and should beat them at home - and with a strong effort on the road. I watched the game on DVR late last night and they still run a very deliberate offense and had little chance to come back on Indiana. Indiana's 2-3 zone and Eric Gordon were the difference makers.

The zone and the ineffectivness of their guards to get Faulkner the ball and that he really is their only interior threat does definitly make them quite vunerable.
But they have played two very talented teams in a row in USC and Indiana and both have two things in common strong guards.
I think SIU will be fine but they had a great chance to make noise now unless they win an extended number of games will be an after thought all season.
The MVC needs some marque wins, we have two chance coming up. "WHY NOT US"

I think one thing is clear, SIU runs to SLOW of an offense. They have the defense but can't shoot worth a darn so they need to shoot more instead of running the shot clock down to 5-10 seconds every time. This may have been Bradleys dilemma last season after we lost POB. Les totally changed the offense into an uptempo 3 point machine. If Les didn't change the offense and kept the dump the ball down low philosophy, I don't think it would of been another 20 win season. SIU needs to change something in there offense, thats evident.
