D-I Conference expansion

The Big South Conference, a nine member conference that was won by Winthrop this past season, is adding a 10th member.
The 10th is a D-II program that will be new to
D-I in 2007-2008.
They are the Presbyterian College Blue Hose.
Their nickname alone is causing a bit of humor but here is the story on that
(it's sort of like the Red Sox, but the Blue Hose instead)

PC is located in Clinton, South Carolina, and has 1200 students.
They won their first round game in the D-II NCAA tourney then lost in the 2nd round this season.
Here are the other teams in the Big South. The bottom 3 or 4 are perennial 300+ RPI teams.

I heard rumblings of this on Wednesday, and it was confirmed early in the day Thursday, and the story broke locally here:

Unlike most schools who want a piece of the NCAA Tournament-CBS pie, this move was made strictly for football reasons, so the Big South could have 6 members which guarantees them an automatic berth for the DI-AA football playoffs.
