  • Bradley end of season record thread

Well, I think i'm ready to make an end of season record prediction. I think after the horrible loss against UIC and the heart of a fighting team they showed me tonight, here's is what I believe will be the results, baring a major injury....

Tue, Feb 19 at Drake W by 15
    Tue, Feb 26 (19) Southern Ill. W by 3
Sat, Mar 1 at Creighton L by 5

Overall record prediction of 24-6 with Bradley beating SIU for the conference tourney championship. Bradley, SIU and Creighton get into the big dance. Collins will be starting by mid-season and averaging a double double a game along with Warren as most improved player of the year.

If that happens, I will buy you a steak dinner in St. Louis!
    Can we start winning soon?

If we only lose 4 more games the rest of the year, I will pay for Jason's entire weekend in St. Louis.

Ok, lets keep this thread at the top then and i'll book my trip to STL now haha. I truly believe this team can go on a run. The defense is stepping up when not in foul trouble, the offense has been steady at about 46% a game and the newcomers are getting better with every game. Turnovers were still kind of high but I really like the look of this team. I havn't seen tonights rebound stats but it should of been pretty even. We all know Bradley could of taken another 3 or 4 games last year if the rebounding was even close to average. The offense is almost what it was last year but we now have rebounding to get those extra 4 or 5 losses back. I'll stand by my predictions, it can be done.

I think I recall Snell saying it was even, due in large part to Theron pulling down a lot in the 2nd hlaf.

I dont think its too far fetched what he's come up with. The only thing I would definitely change is the W vs. Michigan State...

I love the entusiasum but just from what I read we will not go to Loyola and win by 10 and certainly will not go to Wright State and win by 15 nor go to Missouri State and win.

Until we show some consistancy in not turning the basketball over, committing fouls in bunches and begin to play defense better in one on one sets (especially from our 2 spot) we will not go on the road and beat up on people.

This team is growing but still has not shown consistancy and that might not happen for quite awhile. I hope the second half versus Vandy was the opening of seeing this team begin to grow to where it can be, but I take each game one at a time and in all honestly am very worried about Loyola. It has trap game written all over it.

HoustonTx, your worried? Even with Loyola losing to Eastern IL, one of the worst teams in Div. 1? Then barely winning at home against Western Michigan I believe it was. We'll see what happens but I don't foresee another UIC game.

Loyola beat EIU at EIU by 7 points. BU has had a better team than Loyola each of the last 4 times they've visited there, and have lost every time. I don't care how bad Loyola supposedly is, they'll bring their 'A' game against us and we'll be lucky to win. They just got blown out by 31 points to Purdue, so I am sure they'll come out with their best on Wednesday.

                      Jason,

I am 37 years old and have been a BU fan for most of those years. I worry ever single time we play a game but I worry with deep concern every time we play any type of road basketball game. BU, no matter the talent level, has historically played very poorly on the road and there never is any given for us when it comes to winning road basketball games.

I have also been to two games at Loyola and we had more talent each time and each time left that gym with a loss.

I'd love if we finished with that record. It always seems there is at least one home loss during the conference season. Some eyegougyingly frustrating loss. Like UNI at home last year.

43 y.o. and feel the same way....................That being said, I think we blow-out Loyola by 20+!

I'm an eternal optimist Jason when it comes to BU basketball but I had to chuckle at your prediction. God, I hope you are right.

I'm guessing we'll be 19-11 or 18-12 in the regular season and slightly surpass our 22 wins during the MVC Tourney and NCAA Tourney (yes, we'll be in The Big Dance )

Approaching the "Death" part of the schedule

Frankly, I'm not buying into this trap nonsense at Loyola. BU won't be looking ahead to anyone (SEMO surely isn't someone you'd do that for) and should roll the Ramblers, who don't have remotely the same amount of talent as when we lost to them last time.

Since I know the team won't be looking ahead ... I will.

Looking ahead, as I fully anticipate we'll be 6-2 going into Michigan State, Bradley will have their most challenging (and honestly, most interesting) part of the schedule for about six weeks.

                            Here's the rundown:

                            9 games.

FIVE on the road, all of which are especially dangerous games, considering they are at places we ALWAYS lose (SIU, Missouri State), usually lose (UNI), or we're facing a really good team (Butler). Wright State appears to be the easiest, but certainly no cupcake.

The home slate doesn't take much pressure off either, with a top-10 Michigan State team as well as a very good VCU team coming to Peoria.

Realistically, I see something like 6-3, but it could be as bad as 3-6 if we aren't ready.

What is everyone's thoughts on the most important stretch of the season coming up?
                            Go Braves!

I hope your predictions come true Jason. Bottom line this BU team with a lot of new faces is going to win some games you wouldnt think they would win, and they will loose some games the same way. Put me down for BU to win 23 games with the team peaking at the end of the regular season going into tournament time. (barring injuries of course)
