bi brave alum..........to me embarassed is when you get an L' and the effort is not there..........not when you get the W' against a larger team and higher ranked recruits who are supposed to beat you on a regular basis......the Braves played the hand dealt to them and won......Heck I'm PROUD of the BRAVES!

PS.........I also suggest you be thankful for last nights TV coverage...otherwise all we had was radio like tonight unless you watch on the computer!

I too am very PROUD of the Braves this morning.

I think the most encouraging factor in tonights game was the way everyone seemed to settle into their roles as the game went on.

The leaders provided what leaders are supposed to provide. Even JC who had a rough shooting night hit some big shots as the game was being decided along with a few key rebounds.

You began to see the subs emerge and give exactly what you hope when you send a player in off the bench. How about Will E's activity? He must have had 3 deflections in his first possesion on the court. How about Sam Singh and DC. Salley was struggling and those two answered the call.

I would still like to see more from Matt Salley. If he is going to be a captain and a starting player, we need to be a better team when he is on the floor. Period.

Overall, great job by the JL and the Braves. Many of the concerns I had about our team are slowly dissapearing.

        glad for the win though...

alum...you have to put it all in perspective and understand what these tournamenst are and moreso what they can mean for a team like BU who has a hard time scheduling SEC and B10 schools. We get two games at home to workout some kinks we badly needed working on. We get two games against teams that will boost are RPI almost everytime they play a conference game.

The crowds are sparse but its SP Texas over Thanksgiving weekend.....the venus was actually quite nice and reasonably well run. Easy to get to, park and like I stated decent accomodations. It is INDEED likie a HS game in the sense that its very personable when it comes to fans and those running the tourney. I got to speak with the PA guy who was laughing at me the entire game for yeling at refs all game. Dave Snell came and sat with our group while we watched the Vandy game.....the entire team sat in the stands right next to us, all with Pizza hut boxes on their laps, laughing and rocking out to the music when play was stopped after the win.

And bad TV production or not many in the nation got to see a BU win OVER the B10.

One of the best times for me was when the players were first coming through the auditorium to take the court. They ran them right through all the people milling around the lobby by the concession stands. A couple of us BU fans stood in a row and low fived each player as they took the court....Ruf was the last one. As he slapped mt hand I stated...."the kids were not available to ring the court like at home so us older farts are filling in". He was beyond me by about 20 feet by then but heard me, turned and laughed/smiled. Doesn't sound like much but it was cool and said alot about Ruffin In my eyes.

You don't get these kind of opportunities everyday. It may SEEM a bit hokey to you due to small crowds and the high school atmosphere but once the game started it is high octane, bigtime D1 hoops. I don't thin a BU fan here this weekend would have one single complaint....save for the weather but Mother nature has her own agenda......

Wait until next year and see what you think when Wes is still here and Ruffin is gone!

Ruffin is the best point guard on any of the three teams today. There is no doubt about that, my only point of commenting was to say that it is hard to compare team speed when the other team is not at full strength.

Regarding the lack of people in the stands, I think most of these tournaments are not that well attended. I watched some of the tournament games on ESPN this week, and many of those had small crowds. Yeah, the arenas were probably a little nicer than South Padre, but I'm not sure if the number of people were that much different.

                CR Gazette

Not that we need another article to tell us the same thing... but here it is:

Cedar Rapids - Iowa City - Eastern Iowa Gazette:

I loved this game. Being from Cedar Rapids (20 minutes from the U of Iowa) I grew up loving Iowa. To wake up seeing Jeremy Crouch on the front page of sports section captioned "Hawks tumble" was fantastic. Got a picture of DRuff on the next page, too!

Speaking of attendance, I was watching the USC & San Diego Univ game the other night being played in Anaheim. You would think with it being virtually a home game for both teams, there was barely anyone in the stands. These tourneys just aren't that popular.

Point well taken, I am proud of the way BU played for sure. I guess I expect more accomodations and everything overall for our program on the rise..

Right now all I want to do is root for Iowa and Iowa State to get some quality wins in their respective conference to boost our RPI. I think that Iowa State could get some nice wins in their conference this year.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
