Haven't seen Braves12 or Dallas Brave since they started smoking the pre victory cigars.

Thank god I'm here as I'm the only one still in control. Houstonbrave won't even hang out with us anymore and left for his hotel room hours ago.

      We need help...soon...anyone........Please
That sounds like my kind of trip!! Try to hang in there brother and maybe stop in for a quick angioplasty before the flight home!!!

One final blog entry for the night.--

The BU coaches stayed and watched the Vanderbilt-Utah State game until the end and until the final stats were distributed. The entire coaching staff sat together at a courtside table and watched intently, conferring, and taking notes.
The Iowa coaches left shortly after the second game began. They didn't seem too interested in scouting their next opponent.

Ken Kavanagh and President Glasser were planning to return to Peoria tomorrow for the NCAA soccer game. Everyone else who was there will be back for tomorrow night's game. Hopefully there will be a few more BU fans if any more from this region can make it.

In total, I would estimate there were about 40 Bradley fans at the game. Almost half of them were the Crouch family!
There were 300+ Iowa fans, but they were pretty quiet. The total attendance was listed at 850.
At the second game, there were only a handful of Vanderbilt fans present. I would estimate about a dozen. So at least for the championship game Bradley should have the crowd advantage.

The weather has improved a lot. It's a little sunny now and warmer than yesterday, but still probably not yet 60. DogsRus, Dallas Brave, HoustonTxBrave, Orange&Black, and Braves12 went golfing today, so at least they had a much better day weatherwise.

It may not look like it, but there is some sunshine for this picture of the beach just north of the Sheraton Hotel.--

People here at the hotel are still talking about the game Daniel Ruffin had last night. To someone who has never seen him play, some fans were somewhat awed by how he controlled the game by himself for stretches.

Here is a clip of the small, but vocal crowd that was for Bradley last night. Just click on the screen--

And here were the player introductions--

You mean you aren't the same? Huh, I didn't know that!

I promise not to get the names mixed up again. I was wondering how you could be posting and playing golf at the same time.

I met someone at the game last night who now lives down here in Texas, and who was a former player for Bradley.

Jack Brady played on the 1975-76 team. Hew was originally from the Joliet area, and played high school ball at Lockport Central. He was decked out in a Bradley hat and sweatshirt, and was rooting strong for the Braves. Once a Brave, always a Brave! But it's great to see these old Bradley players appear at games like Jack. In many of the past years when Bradley was not doing so well, you wouldn't see that. I'll let you know if he is at tonight's game.

You should introduce him to the forums! I probably wouldnt pay any attention/care about/think about Bradley had I not discovered BF and BUTV.

Jack Brady was at the game again last night. I had already given him a card with info about our board.

I won't comment too much about the game. There is little to say that hasn't already been said. I thought we spent too much time and effort in the first half trying to pound the ball inside. That's not Bradley's game, and aginst those big boys on Vanderbilt, it was doomed to failure. When Bradley just looked for a good outside shot in the 2nd half, we played much better.

Again, Bradley held their own on the boards with a much bigger team, despite Theron Wilson sitting out a long time with fouls.
Shan Foster is a tremendous player, and he will pose matchup problems and defense problems for a lot of other team this year. Actually, Daniel Ruffin seemed to defend Foster as well as anyone. Vanderbilt played well enough last night to beat almost anyone. I was impressed with Bradley's comeback. Everyone contributed during that comeback.
And, finally, the officiating realy hurt Bradley. The officials allowed a tremendous amount of body-bumping, which is how Vandy played defense. But they then called some of the most unbelieveable touch-fouls, in some cases 25 feet away from the ball and the basket. Theron Wilson did nothing to deserve a couple of the fouls he had called on him, considering Vandy's 7-foot, 300 pound behemoths were jumping over his back to get tips and rebounds.
The intentional foul call was absolutely ridiculous. Of course, Andrew was trying to foul the Vandy kid, but if you are going to call that, you could call it a dozen times every game when teams try to foul. And I still don't know what Jim Les did to deserve the technical foul. I was sitting a few feet behind Jim, and all he was saying to the official is that if you call that foul (an early offensive foul called against BU) then we want the same call on our end. He did not berate the official, and he didn't use profanity or leave the coaches box. The ref should have been paying more attention to the game, but I think he wanted to nail Bradley, maybe because he didn't like some of the fans getting on his case for the early foul calls. The officials were very inconsistent, but Bradley has to learn to adjust to the officiating better.

I believe if Bradley could play Vanderbilt 10 more times, we would win 7 or 8 of them.

I think the refs were out to get us from the beginning. I mean what coach gets a T in the first few minutes of a basketball game. I think I would of preferred the UIC refs than these goofs. At least the UIC refs called it a little more fairly on both sides. The second loss had to come sometime but hate for the refs to have a huge part in it. Hope our valley refs are better than this.
