When you play several actual non-con "road games" each year. You are likely to have at least one bad road loss. Annoying but true.

Maybe in a special year when you have lots of veteran players, there won't be a hiccup, but there will usually be one. The reason the "big boys" don't have to claim those types of losses at NCAA selection time, is that they don't play actual non-con road games.
I will say this again, we will lose another non conference game, possibly even more then one and one of those losses might even occur in Peoria. Our non conference schedule if full of traps, Butler, Loyola, Wright State just to name a couple.

Winning Division 1 games is difficult but winning on the road is extremely difficult. It is though a full season and it is important how we play as a body of work rather then a few games and we want to be playing our best in Feb not Nov.

It was, but Missouri St and UNI at home were much worse. So were Illinois and Michigan St by 30. We could have lost Tennessee Tech, but won 2 of those 4 mentioned and still danced.

I am sorry BUB06 that my comment came off as it did. I didn't mean it that way. I am also sorry if you feel like I don't contribute positively to the board.

Yes, they were. It was 63-60 with 30 seconds to go.

I would say just about EVERYBODY on the bubble last year had at least 1 bad loss. Some had worse ones than ours (at home even).

As BradleyBrave has said, you can get by with a bad loss if you have (enough) good wins to make up for it.

And let's not get focused on bad losses. In the 05-06 season, Missouri State had an RPI of 21 and their worst loss was AT #45 RPI Arkansas (79-75) who danced that year.... and Mo St didn't get invited.

I agree the UIC loss will be considered a bad loss at the end of the year. I also agree that teams like BU who have to play games on the road are going to lose some of them. Obviously the less bad losses the better, and the more quality wins the better. The UIC game was a road game BU COULD have won, but didn't. I hope the team doesn't worry about it as much as we do. I hope they are worried about getting better and finding away to minimize the the losses and get a few quality wins. I would love for BU to beat Mich. St. but I don't expect it. It would easily make up for the UIC loss. What I have always wanted BU to do is win all the conference games at home, beat the lower division teams on the road and try to pick up a couple of victories against the top 5 on the road. It is not easy but it is what the top 2 teams seem to do in the Valley every year. This is an inexperienced team. They have talent, let's hope they mature quickly.

A little birdie tells me that how well we do against MSU and then against SIU twice will greatly affect our dance chances. Winning 1 of 3 or 2 of 3 out of those and a good conference record will have a huge impact on our chances. These other games will help some but those 3 games and our record will be what stands out the most. Heck, even Davidson cracked the top 25 but it was with a loss by 4 points to #1 NC. If we lose close to MSU, it could actually be a gain LOL. Also, lets not forget USC's bad game against Mercer which have now lost 3 straight since then including getting slaughtered by Harvard of all teams. Also should mention that top 25 Stanford beat Mercer by 55 points in there first game. Everyone has some goof up games, lets see how the next 5 games pan out here.

I personally think the Tennessee Tech game was a very bad loss last season and the UIC loss is looking worse with each passing game that the Flames lose.

I do, however, believe it can be made up for by winning at least three of the marquee games....Michigan State, SIU (at least once), Wright State, Butler, and VCU. I would love to win four out of those six games.

We should also be hoping for a shot at Vanderbilt instead of Utah State this weekend.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
