BUConnorD for school mascot LOL. Whole crowd was laughin at ya while at the free throw line dude LOL. You might not of noticed while you were out there. Just go get a brave feather hat, put on a sleaveless brown leather throwover and run on the court with the cheerleaders LOL. It's not an official school mascot so the NCAA can't do anything about it. Your just an average joe dressed up for the game.

Give us ONE idea, anything, anything not stolen from another school, or not just shooting down an idea. It's unbelievably easy to rip and tear down what others are doing. Now grow a pair and throw an idea out there. I can't believe how difficult it is just to try to make something better. Wow! Maybe we should just use the same generic tired chants, Continue to make fun of opposing teams because of their ethnicity, and just let everything stay exactly the same...
I thought the students were great. A tremendous student turnout for a Sunday game.
Anything the students do that gets the crowd into games, and is good clean fun is OK with me. How could anyone criticize what they do when there hasn't been this much energy and involvement by the students for many years.
Thanks to BUconnerD for the cheerleading!
I just want to say how awesome I think it is that so many students are coming to bradleyfans.com to participate. Keep recruiting friends to come here to talk BU hoops with us!
To add the the discussion. Keep it simple and stay together. That will make for a loud and intimidating student section. Forget about trying too hard to be "cool" or "witty" Trying too hard is neither cool nor witty.
Get Well Massive Mike! "Once a Brave always a Brave!"
I realize the big heads cost $60 and that is too much for 100s. I am just thinking of an appropriate color picture, copy 100s on a copy machine, tape to some cardboard, attach to some paint stir sticks and go with it. 100s of small faces will certainly make up for the large size. If you need me to fund the cost of copying off 100s, let me know. I will be happy to, just make sure the Prez is OK with everyhthing. I would want it to be done with class and respect.
If the Prez is cool with it, it can be accomplished, noooooooo problem!

Whoa easy there. I am in the first row ever game and there is never a word said about another team's ethnicity. Are you serious?
Since it looks like there's a bunch of students on this thread, I figured I'd throw some thoughts out there, see if anybody's interested.
Officially, I was the President of the Red Zone my last year at BU, 2001, in truth, the job was primarily a liasion between the Athletic Department and the student section. I used to meet with Dennis Kalina (not sure who's taken his post since he went to Gonzaga, I believe) and at least brainstorm some ideas for things to do, promotions, etc. Now, those were the lean years as far as the student section went, when I got to BU in 97, it was fairly big numbers wise, but "membership" declined as the years went on. As common logic goes, the argument was that as the team did poorly, so did the student section. Now, it appears that the student section has had a revival, which is awesome to hear, apparently, it's up to the folks in here to keep that going, so I'll try to help as much as I can, being 700 miles away......
Anyways, I'm pretty sure I've got files of the Student Section Game Notes I put together for the last couple years I was there. They were essentially a little synopsis of the matchup, along with bios and pictures of the main players and coaches (boy I wish I coulda made some for the Eustachy game last year!!!!) on the opposing squad. Now, it's going to take a little bit of work and research (i.e. googling, which is probably even better than when I had to use it!) to find dirt on the opponents/players, or in the absence of any good info you just make up funny stuff about the guy's name or hometown or stupid tattoo or ugliness or whatever info you can find. Sometimes we'd have "organized" cheers for a specific player or against the team on the sheet. The athletic dept. used to let us runoff the game notes in the office there, I believe we got some money from the Braves Club, formerly known as the Chiefs Club, for that. The notes were good for getting everybody on the same page and giving out info on the other team that probably 90% of the people in the section didn't know. It at least gave them a chance to come up with something on their own about the fella on the other team and have it with 'em so they could ID the guys when ringing the court on warmups.
Now here's a couple of observations about the experiences I had:
#1 People are sheep and will follow the herd......but
#2 You can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink.
If you get a good cheer/smack talk/etc. you'll get the support, but if it stinks, don't expect mass participation. Once you find something that everybody buys into, keep it up. Of course you're at the stage where you're still trying to find that....so once you find something that works, run with it as long as you can.
Of course I'm at work right now, but when I get home, I'll dig out my old laptop, I'm pretty sure I've still got those files. I've got no problems if you guys want to use those as templates to come up with your own. Shoot me an email address and I'll try and get those out to ya.
By the way, I know it's early, but if you guys don't get a "DUI!, DUI!" (pronounced: Dewey! or spelling out the ol' D.U.I.! D.U.I.! would work or a "Don't DrinkandDrive! Don't DrinkandDrive!) cheer for the IlSU game, I'm gonna be real disappointed in you guys and gals.....
A real fan celebrates the successes, but also acknowledges the failures of his team.

Yesterday several people were yelling at an opposing player because he was Serbian, enough that a couple of people I know who are Serbian and go to BU overheard and were very taken a back.

Thats John Searby now, a really cool guy, left from Auburn as director of Basketball Operations. He's now the Asst. AD.

Oh, you better believe we're gonna be doing that, right now we're working on stuff for MSU. We're disappointed though, two huge games for BU this year are gonna be when students aren't there... VCU and SIU. I'll be at both games but I wish we had the whole student section for those games.

Last year in St. Louis this became a point of contention between the BU student section and the BU athletic department during the SIU game. My guess is KK will put the screws to any organized DUI references ... that being said, the "You Drink, You Drive, You LOSE!" signs were some of my favorites from last year.
I was the one who did the sheets on the back of the red dots last year. I wouldn't be opposed to doing it again but it'd be awesome if I could get some help.
As far as the racial chanting goes, I was not in my usual spot in the front row yesterday so I'll take other peoples say-so that it was true, but that is absolutely disgusting. There is no need for that in the student section and I would have told people to stop if I'd have heard it.
It seems like all of sudden there are a lot more students here and that's great, but before the season gets too far gone, we need to get organized. The Iowa State crowd student-wise was awesome, but we can be even better.

I had a similar sign in STL last year with regard to Jamal Tatum's leagl troubles, and was told that I couldn't hold the sign up.

Yeah, I remember that. I don't know what they could do about a cheer though. Does anyone remember IU's chant of I-L-L D-U-I? I hate IU, but what a chant!
