[QUOTE=braves12;48798]I'm not sure I really am to worried about what the Red Sea yells, just keep yelling and make it as loud and raucous as you can for the entire game. Keep up the good work. I like the enthusiasm of the big guy.

I have to agree....nice student section.

Maybe the student section could make up 100s of the "faces on sticks" with the new Prez's face on it as a show of support for her enthusiasm. She took the 1st step to show her support, maybe it should be returned. I think it would be appreciated by her and maybe the students could use the Prez sticks to motivate the crowd. When the Prez's face goes up, the crowd gets up. It would need to be used inteligently, and sparingly, but it might work. Just a thought. Let me drink a few sodas and I might have more ideas. Of course the quality might go down!!!!!!

the band/cheerleaders were doing something else.

and the students on the other side of the band weren't doing much.

when there are multiple cheers going on at the same time, its hard to make out anything.
I agree with you. In my opinion this is the problem that is going on (and remember that I am all for new cheers, but the cheerleaders should know them, we shouldn't be making them up at the games) :

          1) The section I sit in and love, the bench side of the student section, likes to go along and do their own thing. Now, I was fine with this, and it worked last year, however, when the cheerleaders started their stuff, we would switch to their cheer, or they would go along with one of ours because they knew it as well. That isn't happening so far this year. This causes two cheers to happen at once, and then everyone just kinda stops after a while.

          2) The main problem is that for some reason bench side of the student section can't hold a beat. Many times midway through a chant the student section is going faster and WAY ahead of the band & cheerleaders. I don't know if they are just so excited they get ahead, or if someone is trying to do this.

          3) As far as clarifying my opposition against the "We are Bradley" cheer, it just doens't seem classy to use it like it was used today, and it should only be used when the team actually proves something. Am I off base here? It just seems like a cheer that should be used sparingly and with discretion.

Wasn't he the same dude that set the record today for most missed FT's in the free pizza shooting contest?

Kudos to who started the wave? Wow. I think next to the "Applause-O-Meter" on scoreboards, that is the absolute dumbest cheer in all of sports. I would have booed every second of it and stayed planted to my seat.

How's about just organizing cheers for your team and not resulting to stupid gimmicks like the wave and 'requested' applause.

The best cheers are just when the crowd gets really loud, the "ohhhhhhhhh" thing where the students bounce up and down like Duke fans, "B-U B-U B-U," "Let's Go - BRADLEY - Clap clap - clapclapclap."

The whole point of rooting for your team is making some noise to get them pumped up to play even harder.

Whoever started the wave is probably one of the same fools that gets too drunk and starts it at Wrigley Field bleachers.

The wave represents fairweather fans who aren't all that interested in the game from San Diego. I'll take the stance of Cricket Australia:

Cricket Australia has banned the wave from all international grounds due to objects being, either unintentionally or deliberately, thrown into the air at the same time. These include plastic cups containing beer, hot food items, or even urine, which affects the other spectators around the person who threw it. Anyone who attempts to start a wave will be ejected from the ground.[8][9] The banning of the Mexican Wave has been met with a mostly negative response from Australia's sports-going public, especially in Melbourne as the result of the much higher popularity of the wave at the MCG. This charge has been led by Matthew Newton, 22, of Springvale, who was one of the first to suffer eviction while promoting his "Save the Mexican Wave" campaign. While gaining large amounts of attention within the Australian media, it did not affect the position of Cricket Australia.

I like this idea! I also like what Dogsrus posted about the student section a couple of posts back. Just keep up the good work, make noise and have fun.

I do go to Wrigley Field bleachers...but i don't drink there. I do that stuff cuz its fun and it gets everyone excited.

Did you notice how bradley started sucking it up for about 15 minutes. Not that UMES was even close to BU, but it was stupid having the entire stadium sitting there like they were watching a tennis match.

and as for the wave being lame...
whoa whoa whoa...let's not say things we can't take back..haha

Well, you mighta looked like a drunk on Tuesday morning.

                      Just kidding.

I thought it was funny... after like 8 missed FT's... instead of shooting another miss.... went after to stop the other guy from getting to 'base' with pizza box in hand.

If you are referring to the second half when we benched Ruffin, Crouch, Salley, and Wilson, then its my belief that you're wrong. I think a lot of avid Bradley fans were perhaps more excited, because the opportunity to see a lineup of Maniscalco, TCS, Warren, Egolf, and Collins isn't going to happen much more this year, especially after getting into conference play. I enjoy getting enormous leads and then watching the game play out when the reserves are in, and I usually find myself more engaged in a game when little-used players get the playing time. It's an interesting thing for many fans to watch freshmen and newcomers get minutes, and it's an opportunity to gauge a players strengths and weaknesses and personally it gets me excited for whats instore for the future.

I'm not against the wave or anything, it can be fun when the whole arena does it and kids seem to get a bit of a kick out of it. It's more of your reasoning for starting the wave that bothers me. Saying that our freshmen, transfers, and walk-ons "sucked it up" for 15 minutes seems pretty harsh. Rather than start the wave and distract our audience from the team "sucking it up," I think it would be a lot more beneficial to the audience AND the team to just yell and cheer them on. Maybe start chanting Let's go Maniscalco or Let's go Egolf, and help boost a young players confidence, or get everyone to stand up and yell. There's nothing like an entire arena standing and cheering for you, especially when you are young and developing. Just my two cents.
This is just the tip of the iceberg...

Students - I can't say how much I love the giant heads. In that regard, I think that the name of the student section needs to be changed. Instead of the 'Red Sea', to which several people seem to be disappointed in (especially the shirts), why not change it to the 'Red Heads'? It's original, and opens up several possibilities with people wearing red hair, shirts that say 'Red Heads have more fun', etc. It also plays to the them the students have started with the giant heads, which I think is just awesome. Rename the students the 'Red Heads'!

Alright to get this back on topic, lets stop tearing things down and actually come up with ideas. Just ripping on what people are trying is worthless. We need a change to take our student section to the next level so let's actually suggest ideas rather than being afraid to change the status quo...

FYI--Those big heads were produced by the athletic department and cost about $60 a piece--not cheap--so a hundred would be a little much. A "Glasser Head" was made as well and ready to be used but before the game she said it didn't make her look good so the athletic department couldn't pass it out.

our ideas are to stop doing certain dumb things like the wave, the "we are bradley" chant excessively, and not keeping a beat with our normal chants. these are our ideas!
