Well hope to hear the student section start it tonight then! Something a little new is always nice to hear, especially to harrass the refs a bit without being vulgar.

      free throw chant

Ten years ago the SIU students had a VERY effective way to throw off opposing teams during free throws. The students were directly behind the basket. As the freethrower was eyeing the basket getting ready to release the ball the students would, in unison scream "you suck". As they did so they would all point at the shooter. This It was incredibly effective until the refs started giving T's to the crowd for vulgarity. After which the students chanted "AIIIIIIIIIIIM LEFT!" right before the shooter released the ball. They still pointed and this worked pretty well too.

I would love to see the students use "AIIIIIIIIIIIM LEFT!" and waive in the same direction together. I know you may be adverse to using something that started in Carbondale, but it worked, and the point is to get the opposing team to miss their FT's. The biggest obstacle may be the band. Why are they behind the basket? When I was a BU student the band was next to the bench. Anyway... I think the band director has tighter restrictions on what the band may chant at opposing players, which I respect. But I do think the band should be next to the opposing team's bench making it very hard for them to communicate.

      "AIIIIIIIM LEFT!!!!" is my suggestion.

You could also get everyone in the student section to get their car keys out and shake them when that player gets to the free throw line.,..

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Yup. I remember doing that for ol' Jamar Smiley of IlSU after he got pinched for Auto Theft/UUV.

Hey guys I'm new to this site, a friend of mine told me about it, but after reading a bunch of these posts, I was just wondering how difficult it would be for the band to switch sides with the student section by the bench? This would put the two parts of the student section together so we can keep everyone on the same page, including the cheerleaders who can stay at their usual spot. Also for during free throws, it puts the students right there behind the backboard which would open up a bunch of opportunities for us to come up with some creative distractions. Just a thought.

Wish I could be at the game tonight though. I have friends at Iowa and I would love to be there when the Braves top the Hawkeyes and then rub it in their face because they weren't there. You can bet that I'll be at BWW watching the game tonight though and cheering on our Braves. Go Bradley!

Welcome DUBrave5. Let all your friends know about Bradleyfans.com.

Your suggestion is not bad. Jim Les wanted to switch benches a couple yaers ago to put the visiting team near the band to make it harder for their coach to talk to his team during timeouts. By moving the band one section closer to the bench, it would make things worse for them.

But I think the band likes where they are, so I wouldn't expect it to be changed.
