Coaching news

SMU's head coach Jimmy Tubbs' is in trouble for not having enough laundry soap on him.

According to the article in today's Dallas Morning News, "Sources said minor NCAA rules violations could result in Tubbs' firing. Among the allegations: Tubbs gave less than a cup of laundry detergent to freshman center Bamba Fall, and Tubbs conducted practice for more than the NCAA-mandated 20 hours per week. Also, Tubbs' phone records are being investigated to determine if he called prospective recruits more than the NCAA allows."

My son has gone to his summer camp the last two years and my wife and I were discussing just this morning about shelling out the dinero to send him again this year.

If it's any consolation, when Mo was fired and Jim Les came in April of 2002, he did a fine job getting the summer camps all done even though lots of kids had already signed up.

The Charlotte Observer is reporting that North Carolina State is making a big push to lure LSU's coach John Brady to coach the Wolfpack.

There are a lot of rumors swirling about the Oklahoma coaching job. Earlier today, Karl Hobbs, the coach at George Washington, was rumored to be the next coach. But now it seems Hobbs may be out as a candidate. They would like a big name coach, but Mark Turgeon remains a good possibility if they can get someone with major experience.

Did anyone else besides me notice that Steve Lavin's name hasn't been mentioned at all for all these top coaching positions?
Last year, his name came up for every one of them.

Since Marvell Waithe's is visiting Bradley, Iowa, Georgia, and Cincinnati, this can't be bad for Bradley.

Cincinatti just signed this JuCo shooting guard, and one of their other recruits is another juco shooting guard, Marvin Gentry. If playing immediately is one of Waithe's factors, he should see that Cincinnati has just recruited 2 jucos who play the same position as he does.

And according to Rivals.com, Mick Cronin's 2 top targets are these other players who play similar positions as Waithe--
Eugene Harvey, a high school point guard--
