Not much of a flyer....infact last time I tried I sprained an ankle jumping off my roof. Anyway leaving Thursday for South Padre...yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaa.

I have heard the 3 ounce rule for liquids but is that for carry on only? I have a huge bottle of moisturizer I just have to take. What about cameras, shaving kits with razors, etc. I'd LIKE to have at least one change of clothes, camera and shaving supplies in hand in CASE the airlines lost my luggage.

Also taking the golf clubs....have a travel case but don't know if there is special intructions with that. IF those get lost or stolen I'm out about an easy 1200.00 bucks. (don't tell the old lady she thinks golf clubs, driver, bag, etc are about 200.00) How do I "claim" that value?

And then there is my six shooter I'll need for Texas.......can I simply stuff that in my shorts and hope I get some lax baggage checker?

Any frequent flyers with tips (yes I'm arriving early) would be appreciated. I'll promise to bring back a HUGE win over Iowa for a reward.

DRU, I went on a long vacation last Septemper. The three ounce rule applies to items in carry on luggage only. As long as your moisturizer is in your checked in luggage you will be fine. Also dont pack any sharp items such as razors etc in your carry on. Put them in your checked in luggage. Cameras etc in your carry on luggage is fine. Be prepared to take you shoes off when you go through security. As for golf clubs, I would think that those would have to checked in.. I cant help you there as I was on an international flight and their rules are different. (going to Europe from the US the three ounce rule applied however coming back the you could bring more back on your carry on!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?) On my flight you could have as many as 2 checked in items. The luggage had to weigh 50 lbs or less. If the luggage weighed more than 50 lbs then the airline could assess a charge. I dont think that my airline enforced this very strictly though. Maybe you can check on the internet site with the airline your are flying for golf clubs etc...

      Dog,
3 oz. rule is for carry on LIQUIDS only. However, I would leave that 6 shooter home!
You can buy one in Texas. I hear they sell em down there.

DRU the 3 ounce rule applies to liquids, gels, and or aerosols. Also golf clubs must be checked luggage. I have the pamphlet in front of me but am searching for a link.

            Dogs,

The 3 ounce rule also states that the containers must be in a see through bag like a sandwich or freezer bag. It must be taken out of your carry-on at the xray conveyor and out into a tray. All electronics must be put into a tray also outside of the carry-on bag. I suggest you take off your shoes and belt and put them in a tray. For the rest of your metal contents, coins, watch, rings, finger nail clippers, knife(woops) I suggest you just put them in the carry-on when you get to the xray area.

Don't worry about the luggage getting lost, there is nothing you can do about it. You will get it sometime. The shaving and etc. stuff can easily be bought at a Walmart if required. Bring some BU and golf clothes in your carry on. The golf clubs you will check in. I suggest you wrap a towel or two around the heads of your woods to protect them. If the clubs get damaged, you lose! If they are lost by the airport, you will get reimbursed. Probably not $1200 but more than the $200!!!!!

You got my number, call if you need more advice.

Now, I am holding you to that victory over Iowa!

Getting there probably will not be a problem but coming back from Texas will be if you do not follow the rules. Texas is known for it's Gestapo like treatment for anyone flaunting the rules. So get that freezer baggy and make sure the moisturizer stays in your check in luggage. Regarding the 6 shooter just make sure you buy a cowboy hat and shoes with it. THen you'll be styling down there

Folks, if I were not a transplant and native to Illinois I would find the references to Texas as hostle and offensive and would have to report each of you to the NCAA for a through investigation. And since the comments were made by fans of a Non BCS school, this board and each of you would be shut down for a minimum of 8 games. But since I have no affection to Texas, please continue on
