  • Props on the win Braves

As I feared, your experienced guards were just too much for my Clones, but I thought we gave a better showing than I expected in Peoria. Hopefully we can get everyone healthy and go on and win some games and help your RPI! We are really going to struggle until we get Wes back.

you guys definately put up a good fight tonight.... played great D and shut down our "great offense"... i think once Wes comes back you can knock off some people in the b12

Noticed more Cyclone fans at Carver tonight than I thought would attend. Hope they had fun despite the outcome. It was a fight throughout and I think BU Nation is relieved to get the win.

I would take your number 22 on my team any day. He's a great shooter. Number 13 did a great defensive job on JC. Good luck the rest of the way.

Caterpillar recruits Iowa State very hard. I know that many of the yellow Iowa State shirts were Cat employees.

That would be walk-on Bryan Peterson. We had an extra scholarship this year so he was given one, but next year he returns to beign a walk on.

Wes is so good I take him for granted until he is no longer here. He is almost always good for a double double and that kind of production is just hard to replace, but it is great for us going forward to have his backups get the minutes they are getting right now.

This years clones look to have twice the basketball IQ that the team did last year.

I dunno, maybe we were just that much faster and better last year, but IA ST. was slow and BAD when we played them in Des Moines. It is hard to believe that if Wesley Johnson was on the floor last year that they would have looked that bad.

IMO, this season looks much brighter--make some noise in the Big 12 for us so we can consider this a "key win!"

I can't believe that kid is a walk-on. He was a hell of a player and can really shoot it.

I'm not sure about anyone else's experience, but I thought the Iowa State fans at the game were knowledgeable and respectful, something that can often be hard to find in opposing fans. The guy in front of me even shook my hand at the end of the game, said it was nice meeting me (and other BU fans), and wished us the best the rest of the year.

I'd happily continue this series (no reason it shouldn't as long as McDermott is at the helm).
                    Go Braves!

I was also impressed with a couple freshmen, Craig Brackins and Diante Garrett. They will be pretty good when they can build their bodies, and develop.

I have always thought Iowa fans (that includes UNI, Drake, Iowa State fans) are about the nicest and most knowledgeable fans compared with the fans we engage from other states. It must be something in the corn.

Lucca Staiger is a stud as well but is currently suspended per the NCAA. IF he hangs around in Ames until next year when he will be eligible, Garrett, Staiger, Johnson and Brackins give us four very good young players to build a team around. 2008 signees Wes Eikmeier and Dominique Buckley are also very solid guards. Greg is building a solid program but we are young and it shows.

I hope the series does continue, but we will not be playing in Des Moines any more to my knowledge and I am not sure if the teams can come to an agreement since I do not know if ISU is interested in another straight home and home with a Valley squad (already have Drake and UNI). But maybe a five games series with three in Ames and two in Peoria or somethign can be reached. May not seem fair to Braves fans and I agree it isn't, but I would be somewhat surprised to see a straight home and home.

Coach, I agree with you about the fans from the state of Iowa. I remember the game at Drake, when Les threw the long pass to Hersey for the buzzer beater. After the game we stopped at a spagetti place downtown and stayed for an hour after eating talking basketball with Drake fans. They congratulated us on a great win and for having such a great season. Couldn't see that happening at Pub2 in Normal.

Do you remember a Drake fan, screaming at Gary Garner at the top of his lungs....for being an idjit for not guarding the guy throwing the inbounds pass?

                            That was me.

but two night's later Jim Les and Hersey Hawkins reprised almost the exact same play to send a game at Dayton into OT, where BU subsequently won, and they did guard the inbound passer (Les) and he still got it to Hersey for the 45 footer and OT.
