Intros need work...props to the prez for enthusiasm. Props to the students also. Keep it original and creative.

WHY are we back to sitting after the visitors make a basket...ARGHHHHHHH

Nice win...this team is playing EXACTLY like a team with 7 new guys. We still don't have an identity. Agree with bbrave, don't take em lightly at all but two "cupcakes" will be nice to continue to work out kinks.

I think we all have to realize this is many of these guys 2nd D1 game. There is a tremendous adjustment period here.

I liked JL's rotation much better tonite but I still would like to see more DC and TCS. But hey its HIS team and he knows em better than me/us.

It really seemed like the defensive intensity got turned up 100% in the second half. Agressive, with some great traps and help from the weak side.
Theron with a couple HUGE threes. Warren just looks like he can do whatever he chooses to do...I wish he would do it more often. JC solid as McDermott had a great gameplan. JC will NOT beat us tonite.

We need to scrap that "moses" play we had with about 50 tics on the clock we parted the Red Sea and let their player drive coast to coast in about 6 seconds for a layup.

We still don't have a flow and it appears guys are not settled in to their roles. Clean up some passes....go ahead and take the open look and crash the boards hard.

LOTS of work to do but I'm a bit more hopeful. We are no where near 2nd place in the Valley right now. Last nite was a good test. C+ in my book. Keep studying hard guys.

I got a kick out of Ruff during his postgame interview on the radio. He must plan on coaching after all his playing days are over. On many occasions I've heard:

        My thoughts on the game:

It is nice to know that BU finally has a president, I have been coming to games for several years and never knew that BU actually had a president before this year. You did didn't you? What away to start the new season. She has so much enthusiasm and I hope this isn't the only time we get to see her. I noticed she was roaming throughout the stands and then cheering w/ the students is absulately awsome.

I would love to see the fans in the lower bowl standing for the first and last 4 minutes of each half liek they did last year. I really beleive that it adds so much to the game and also helps the team as they have that enthusiasm to play off of.

Was it just me or did they miss a lot of JC's action. It seemed like he had a lot more then 4 rebounds and 5 assists as time and again it seemed like he was giving up the ball for a lay up or an outside shot. DR is DR and nothing else really needs to be said about him. We need to get AW more involved in the game and he needs to drive and pullupp more. He could be a great compliment to JC. TW is a rebounding machine as he can jump. Several times he was up above the other players to grab a rebound and he will only get better. He is a lot like Boogie in his outside shot but may get better w/ experience and confidence. As for the other new guys they are coming along slowly by getting some minutes here and there which willonly build up their confidence. Look as ZA between the begiinning of his junior year and the end of his junior year and then look at how good he played as a senior. These guys are going to be very good players before they leave BU and will definately help this year. SS has always had the ability but w/ all of his injuries has never been able to show it and will be able to help more then anyone expected. My one thought is what happened to RA as he is completely extinct? Is he becoming a rs cantidate as he hasn't been playing at all or is he just in JL doghouse.

As for the giant heads in the student section..... I have some suggestions...
---for the ISU game, a giant cop with a breathalyzer
---for the Missouri State game, a picture of the NCAA Selection Committee saying a resounding "NO"
---for the Michigan State game, a giant picture of a player in a Grand Valley State uniform
---for the VCU game a picture of Daniel Ruffin squashing Eric Maynor
---for Evansville (and Marty Simmons) a picture of a buffet line
There could also be a GVSU logo in the student section for the Michigan State game
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

As far as the heads go, they are expensive to produce and I think we're pretty much set with what we have. They really add a cool element to the student section and I think they looked awesome last night.

If any of the students on here want templates for the game notes I did about 6-7 years ago (holy crap I feel old now), I might still have 'em on my ol' laptop....lemme know if ya want 'em. The athletic dept. used to let me run 'em off right there in the office......

He has to be some type of a threat on offense and last night he was! He was very much like JJ with the "opportunistic" 3's. If he can do that we will get better on offense.

HERE IS THE DIFFERENCE --When we played 4 guards last year and JJ was at the "4" spot, He would drive the ball on the baseline and find the shooter on the wing for a 3 (point forward?). I am not sure that will be Wilson's game, but that is what JJ did. We had 4 "drive and kick" players on the floor and now we have at most 2 or 3 to find the open shooter.

If this doesn't happen with Wilson we will just have to adjust, but that is the difference in our offense IMHO.
I agree. Not only did we have 3 deadly shooters (Crouch, Ruff, and Will) but it was like having 3 point guards on offense(JJ, Ruff and Will) with crouch being close as well. Very unique situation where 4 primary weapons could all handle the ball, shoot with range, and were able to make good, smart decisions within the offense. It was very difficult to defend.

I don't think Theron will ever be the ballhandler/passer that JJ was. I do think he will eventually be somebody who can attack the rim on offense and knockdown the occasional jumper. His mechanics on his jumpshot look very good, so at least he gives the appearance of a threat on the perimeter.

I noticed this too! I thought it was great. In my four years at BU I never once, ONCE saw whats his name. And the fact that I cant even remember his name is a testament to how LITTLE he did for BU.

I agree, especially with the sitting down thing. Like to share a story...Here is how it goes. Two other guys and I have season tickets and sit in the upper bowl, section 1, 6 rows up. So the 2nd half brought some great basketball and the crowd was getting into it. Everyone was standing and going crazy, then a foul was called on Bradley; Iowa State to shoot some free throws. Majority of the people were still standing. Next came the voice of an old man screaming at the top of his lungs at me and the guy standing next to me ; o yes the guy was SIX ROWS BEHIND US "Hey, sit down. Hey you two ********************s sit down for christ sake." Everyone around us was like "my goodness, settle down." He was really belting it out. I was praying to God it was not a bradley fan because there was a pretty good contingent of Iowa State fans up there. I wish I didn't sit just to aggravate the psyco behind us even more. I wanted to get a look at this guy. So after the game people were filing out and a lot of fellow Bradley fans were coming up to me telling me that I wasn't an ********************. I was bummed even though we won. My other two comrads were looking for the guy. Hey, I guess we will find out next game if he is Bradley or not.....Here is one guy praying he's not.

                    On a more a serious note....GO BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This would happen to me everytime I/my friends stood up last year. Even when Herzog would call for the fans to stand until the officials timeout. Some grouchy man in sec 21 would start ranting and raving about how he paid good money to SIT and watch a game, not to stand up all night. We sat in sec 21 lower bowl just behind the floor seats under the basket near the bradley bench. The problem would be that the people in the floor seats would remain standing(which I am all for), so we would have to stand to see the action yet catch all the crap spewing from this moron's mouth. I think his real problem was that even if he stood up he couldn't see over us because he was about 5'5" and I am 6'2" and my friend about 6'5".

I never back down to these people.

I go right up to them and politely respond that "I have been sitting in and paying for this seat for almost 20 years...and I am going to root for this team with everything that I have. If you don't like to stand and root for our team, listen to the game on the radio from your easy chair."

Believe it or not It has never gone beyond that. Just address them personally and be polite.

It's great to see Presidnet Glasser getting so involved in Bradley sports. But give ex-President Broski a break. I used to see him at the games cheering for the Braves. The 2 just have different personalities and he did a lot for university.

I would of but someone already address the issue behind me. Felt good knowing that someone had my back, but I wish I would of handled it myself. One of the guys who sits with me goes to Duke basketball games and he was about jump out of his skin when this guy told us to sit down. My purpose is not ruin the game for anyone to my left, right, front, or rear; but I will stand when the situation calls for it and I will sit when I am told not to and cheer like it is my last Bradley game. I hope the group around will understand.

The standing thing bothers me, but for the first time EVER, I was told by this guy a row ahead of me to be quiet. I could not believe it. I don't think we should sit so often, and the crowd seems to die as soon as the other team makes a basket (which is exactly NOT the time to be dying)... but I guess if everyone around me is sitting I try to be respectful and sit.

This guy actually told me to be quiet though, and that is something I will not do. Ever. It's a basketball game, and our job is to be loud. If that guy is a season ticket holder he'd better get used to some noise, and that's what he was told.

The funny part about all this is that a lot of this "gruff" is from the Old Timers. The same ones who love to wax poetic about the good ole days.

Do you even think such complaints would have been heard over the roars and stomping in our beloved Fieldhouse?
